Hey everyone!!
I have been wondering how people who have passed NCLEX studied for it? Did you read EVERY topic there ever was about Nursing..like from Med surg to simple ethics? Because that's what I'm doing, all I feel SO overwhelmed. I still have OB, PEDS, part MENTAL HEALTH, part FUNDAMENTAL SKILLS to go...and I was hoping to test on 16th (so much for that! Arrghh!)..
Oh well, enuf of my ranting..Let's hear your side of the NCLEX study story. :)

It's definitely overwhelming to take on every single subject, especially considering you may only get 75 questions. We had a minimum of 5 or so 80+ question exams per semester, so trying to cover everything is just going to hurt you. Now I haven't taken mine yet, I am scheduled for Saturday afternoon, so I can't speak from experience.
Did you take any exams like ATI predictors, MedSurg, etc? If you did, you could log into atitesting.com and look up your results, those will tell you the areas that you struggled with in the exam, and you can focus on those areas. Basically, focus on areas that you feel particularly weak in, and maybe review some things you can't fully remember. Don't try and cram an entire 2 years of nursing school education in before the exam, you'll wear yourself out.

Here's my take on taking the NCLEX
If you went to a decent program, applied yourself in nursing school, more than likely you will be fine. You've spent the last few years preparing for this. You can't relearn in a few weeks what you spent the last few years learning.
I took a little over 2 weeks to prepare. I did practice questions from Saunders Q&A. Also went over anything I felt iffy about in the Saunders Comprehensive Guide but I was not reading every single thing I studied in nursing school. I also went over the All Nurses Study Guide. The mnemonics are great. I passed with 75 questions. Same for most of my other classmates. So far our class is batting 100% on passing with almost 75% of the class taking it thus far. I think the sooner you take it, the better when the material is still fresh.
OMG! I know what you mean! I'm taking ATI...but I'm not really paying attention to it. I feel like I don't remember anything at all! I took my first diagnostic test with NCBSN review and I got a 61% (shame shame shame). And then have being doing all sorts of tests. I'm so all over the place, it's confusing. But I know for sure that I haven't really touched on Peds, and Ob. For Med Surg, I have the Skin and Eye & Ear to go. I have to browse psych and leadership!
I feel like I have to go over everything to remember them all..
