I was wondering for those who have taken the nclex and used ATIs in school if they felt the ATI helped them to prepare for the nclex at all. I really hate the ATI test but all my instructors say it's great and it's the best predictor if you'll pass nclex or not. Just wondering how you felt.

I took the ATI at SFSU. It has good points but is mostly knowledge based. What it doesn't teach you is strategy to answer the questions. NCLEX is all about critical thinking and eliminating the wrong questions first. Kaplan nail it in the head with estrategies. Not only that but the questions you see at Kaplan are identical to what you will see in the real test. ATI questions are somewhat different. Some of my class mates had only ATI onbord and they did well...I depends of who you are as a student, I would say do ATI and Kaplan, it can't hurt you. As for me I'm still waiting for the results...can't really say it helped me or not. Good luck

Hi, we did ATI in our program. Once I graduated I did the Virtual ATI, which was more of the same of what I saw in school. I think it helped. I'll know for sure once I get my results which will be in about a week. I was a serious student in school also. I just hope my critical thinking skills were enough to help me pass the nclex pn. The Virtual ATI fee was $200 which included an online tutor. I finished the assessments in about a month, which covered everything.

This wasn't around when I was getting ready for my boards. My daughter has the entire set. The books and CDs are sitting in the box they arrived in, gathering dust. I guess when she gets serious about taking the boards, she will get serious about the ATI study guides.

what was the test like? same as the online practise test? Am just scare of this so call ATI. Am taking mine in May. My shool do not use ATI,but Just for the Exit EXAM for the LPN. Can you brief me abt the ATI. ur help will surell pays off. And what study guide to use for the PN comprehensive predictor.?
Hi, KAYBDT6
I'll briefly mention that we had to purchase ATI books which covered all the subject areas. They were easy to read and had quizzes at the end of each section. The sections were very short. I didn't have time to read the entire peds book in preparation for my ATI test, so I read the entire quiz sections, which included the answers. I managed to score an 80% which is really good. Of course this included whatever knowledge I also had from my textbook on the subject which we covered over a period of time. The ATI books are like the framework you would hang your textbook knowledge on. The ATI books hit the most important points. Our comp predictor consisted of all we had gleaned from our ATI books and related assessments. We didn't have a study guide, just assessements with topics to review to improve our scores on that particular area. Hope this helps some.
Hi Calif-me
I understand your point but the problem is i dont have access to the ATI book which make everything more complicated. An I dont have much time on my side, that is one of the reason am searching for someone who can be of help toward this so call ATI. We dont use ATI in my school. The test was just introduced for the Exit exam. I think if i can see someone who can give the blueprint it will be an advantage to the test review. i will be so grateful if you can be of help. looking forward for your reply.
Hi KAYBDT6,
I think this will help. Go to www.atitesting.com. Click on students, don't worry about the password/username. Next, click on preparing for the nclex, then click on comprehensive online practice assessments, scroll down to PN Comprehensive Online Practice Assessments, click on learn more. It will give you more information about a resource you can buy for $40. If you decide to get this resource then you'll need to follow the directions registering as a first time user. I hope this helps. It's the best I can do for you. The complete package is very costly and you don't have time to use it anyway. Good luck.
