Try to get Salvatore for the summer classes for A & P :) He gives opportunities for extra credit

Oh and all my pre req's were complete. I know someone who had lower GPA than mine but scored in the upper 80's on the TEAS and got in.

I did :D...and I got him for A&P II in the fall...i swear his class filled up within 20 minuates after midnight!! Did you have him for your A&P classes? Anything that you feel you should give a heads up on??

I have the teas book and the kaplan nursing entrance exam book...and im trying to get a head start before August.

Thanks for your help!! Congrats again on getting in!:yeah:

I had him for Bio 250 ans 251 - hes cool and its impossible to get anything less than an A or B in his class - trust me, hes good!

I can't offer any tips about classes at JJC. This is my 1st semester there, so I have no experience with teachers or classes (other than Psych 215). I completed all of my pre-reqs except for Psych 215 & Soc 290 as a part of my BA in Biology. I got B's in all of my classes except Micro where I had a C+. I don't know my exact GPA, but I would guess somewhere between 3.0 - 3.2.

As for the TEAS, my composite score was an 88.8%. I scored a 97.5% on the reading section. When I finished the test, the proctor told me those were the 2 scores that the program looked at. I agree COMPLETELY with aimee8407 about the science portion. I honestly thought it was a little tough. (Don't let that freak you out though. I only got a 73% on that part.) The science on the test was not the science in the study guide. I, too, had questions about volcanoes and earthquakes & none of that was in the study guide. I used the Barron's Nursing School Entrance Exams guide. I felt that it helped me. I can't say that I studied hours and hours, but I did go through the whole book. I did all the practice tests and I even did the timed tests which are great practice for the TEAS.

I hope this helps!! Good luck in August!!

aimee8407, are you in the day or evening section?

I will be in the evening classes in the fall.

Did anyone tape record his lectures...or does he put them online...or is there no need to record them???

Some girls did tape him. His outlines were just that - that all he gives - no notes really. He goes through the Exams with you prior to you taking them and lets the class choose which essay questions they want. He uses the quizzes for most of the exam also. He lets you correct your wrong questions on your exams for more points (not full value but it helps alot)

He talks softly so that makes it hard to hear him at times. Hes just a low key guy :)

did you feel the outliness were beneficial?? Im wondering if its worth taping his lectures.

Yeah, i would tape him. The outlines were kind of pointless IMO - he never followed the order of the outline.
