Did Anyone Apply for Spring 2018 for SUNY Farmingdale?!?

Nursing Students School Programs

Published

Hello all!

I didn't see anyone here on allnurses that posted about SUNY Farmingdales advanced standing transfer Nursing B.S! I applied at the end of July and so far have received a letter that i passed the first round of admissions! YAY! I thought maybe we could all support one another and say our GPAs and Prerequisite grades for anyone who is interested. I have scheduled my TEAS exam for October 2nd. If anyone is interested in knowing, I decided to go with the TEAS at a PSI center and not at farmingdale so that I will be able to send my scores to other schools if I choose. I am really hoping to get in! Nursing is my dream. :)

I already have completed all the pre req courses required by farmingdale. I am currently a senior at a CUNY school studying Health Science.

Overall GPA: 3.65

Pre Req Course Grades:

1. A and P 1 = B+

2. A and P 2 = A

3. Eng. Comp 1 = A

4. Math (Pre Cal) = B+

5. Psych = A+

6. Three Liberal Arts Courses: (will vary among individuals)

A. Eng comp 2 = A-

B. Music = A

C. History = A

Pre Req GPA: 3.7

Quick questions for anyone who got this info from them:

1. Does this years TEAS exam have a calculator? And are we allowed to use it during the math section?

2. Is this a rolling admissions type thing or do they review applications AFTER the deadline?

Thank you everyone! I hope everyone interested gets in!

I got my package Friday along with about 5 different emails all giving conflicting instructions. I called admissions who patched me to nursing who patched me back to admissions. So crazy, I emailed Ryan Neary, the head of admissions. I did my background check which cost 177 and sent the 100 deposit. The packet says to register for orientation but email says to just show up Dec 8, so unorganized, I'll let everyone know what Neary says.

Yes, the $100 deposit secures your seat. The orientation on the 8th is for accepted Nursing students only. You will need to register for Farmingdale's transfer student orientation separately. You will be able to discuss the uniforms with the nursing department on the 8th. The nursing department will receive the results of the background check automatically. You do not have to do anything else.

This is the email I got back, hope it clears up atleast some questions.

Thank you for emailing! Did anyone else complete orientation/vaccines etc? And also, where do we find the transfer credit thing? I can't find it

Hey guys so I was wondering if any of you know why the nuclei pass rate is so low and/or why there are so few students taking it per year. Its a big concern of mine. Thanks!

Thank you. My background check costed $140..... and yours was $177? Wow. And does anyone know anything about the cpr certification? Any places to get it for cheap?? I'm really low on cash.

What's the nuclei pass rate? And I believe it's low because there are few seats. And everyone in the advanced standing degree goes at their own pace because some people have 30 credits total and some, like me, have over 90 credits. So some people have more classes to take and pple graduate at different semesters.

It's says on the nyc website that the passrate is 94.7 in 2016 and 36 out of 38 students passed on first try. That's a good chunk of pple taking it. The low scores were for people who were in the associates degree program. The 94.7% is for the bachelorette degree nursing students. That's what the NYC directly states. There aren't any stats for 2017 yet

The difference in backround check could be because they signed up for an add on from the backround check company.

Also what does nuclei refer to?

I meant NCLEX it must have autocorrected on my laptop lol. If you check with your local fire department they may have an idea where you can get a class for free. Do you happen to know why no one took it in 2015 and only 10 took it in 2014? Does anyone know how many nursing students there are per year?

I just know that there are 50 spots for the advanced nursing. And tbh this program is relatively new. My pre health advisor said it used to be just an associates degree and it didn't really go well for them. So in the earlier years maybe the program wasn't good but I've heard it has improved. You can definitely see by the numbers. As for the regular nursing students, I am not sure how many spots. And thank u I will check my local fdny!

I think these are all really good questions to ask at the welcome session. Who here is attending?? I hope to meet some of u! :)

For anyone interested in meeting up on Friday or to chat/talk, my email is [email protected]
