Did anybody apply to NCC for the Fall?

Yesterday was the deadline and now the waiting begins. They said the first batch of letters goes out by the end of April.

Good Luck to all

Gratz LN422, just out of curiosity what is/was your GPA? They make it so damn hard to get in to the program.

Hey jb, It's hard to tell what my GPA was because you know how they only factor in the required courses? (like A&P, Bio, etc.) Well, I have a lot of other courses on my transcript, plus I have gone to 3 other colleges. My last GPA was really good, 3.8 or so (LIU- Brooklyn), The one before that was OK, I think about 3.6 (Queens College) and my first school was bad, like 2.5 or something (Stony Brook- major party school). But that's with all the other classes I took (I have about 117 credits).

I got mostly A's and B's in the nursing pre req's though. I had gotten one C (microbiology). I also took all the nursing pre-requisites before I applied so all I have left to take are the 5 Nursing classes.

Don't give up! Keep taking the pre req courses (it'll make your life a lot easier anyway when it comes time to do the program) and keep applying.

On a side note, I went to LIU- Brooklyn campus- for their evening nursing program (I was in that program but then applied to NCC because LIU screwed me- but that's another long story) and I DO NOT recommend their Nursing Program to anybody!!! I heard (AFTER THEY PURSUADED ME INTO APPLYING) that they only have like a 40% passing rate for the NCLEX and they were in danger of getting the nursing program closed down!!! And I heard this from one of the TEACHERS!!! He told me to GET OUT OF THAT SCHOOL ASAP! So don't waste your time going there like I did. :)

Anyway, sorry this is so long and good luck in the future!! ;)

I got my credit evaluation and I know what my GPA was now... My overall GPA was a 3.49

These are the classes that they gave me credit for and the grade I got:

AHS 131 - A-

AHS 202 - C

ENG 101 - A

ENG 102 - A

MAT 102 - A-

SOC 201 - B+

PSY 203 - B

PSY 213 - A-

THR 103 - A

PHI 101 - A

I hope this helps.... She also mentioned something about not having enough minority students so if you're a minority student maybe you might have a little better chance of getting in (?) I'm just guessing but she definitely mentioned that LI did not have enough minority nurses, even though LI itself is very diverse. They even got a grant for the minority students (some sort of extra help or something). I myself am Hispanic so this benefits me. :)

LoveNursing422: Did you get into the evening program at NCC? My gpa for pre-reqs was about 3.4. I thought that I had a pretty good chance of getting in. Did she mention if some people did not show up?

I am hoping that I get a call from them before the start of the fall semester.

I did get into the evening program. She didn't mention if some people didn't show up but I did see some folders left over on the table (Each folder was assigned to a student in the program) I'm not sure if those were for the previous group or if those were students who did not show up. You should call and see what place you are on the list.
