Diabetic Supplies

I'm trying to prepare some for next year (we only 4 days of school left!!!!!). We will have several diabetic students in our building next year, whereas, in years past, we have only had 1 or 2. How do you help them store their supplies?

I'm thinking I may get one of those rolling, stacked Rubbermaid totes that has the drawers and each student can have their own drawer. I know I won't have much room in the cabinet they use now.

I know of a couple of schools in my district that use the Rubbermaids with drawers. I personally would not feel comfortable having diabetic supplies unlocked and out in the open. I have a few special students who like to explore and they occasionally come to the clinic unaccompanied. You get the picture.

Yea....I learned the hard way. I have one student I check 3 times a day. I used to just leave his glucometer on my desk for easy access until one day it grew legs and walked away.

I've had students leave supplies in a locked cabinet. Each had a hard pencil case with their name on it to house their supplies. Snacks were kept nearby. I work with 10-13 year olds and I generally just observe while they test themselves.
