has anyone on this board attended the nursing program at desales? if so, is it a good program? if you didn't attend that school, have you heard anything about it from other people?

The students I met seemed satisfied with their progress. They have a few different programs. I haven't heard anything bad, not that it really means anything.

They are on my short list for a masters someday.

any specific questions you had in mind? i know some people.

msfb,

hey, thanks for the reply. in a nut shell, i'm going back to school to get a BSN after working in the accounting field for a few years. i'm currently living in the lehigh valley and am interterested in the accelerated program at desales. however, i don't know anything about it or anyone in the program. i guess i was just curious as to how the students like the nursing program, and if they feel it is a academically challenging program? just any opinions they had on the program...did they feel prepared after graduation? also....if you are in the acclerated program do you take classes with just the accelerated students or do you take classes with the undergraduate students?

thanks in advance

I emailed my friend at DeSales last night. I'll let you know when/if she writes back. I'll also ask any DeSales students I may run into while at clinical. Like I said, the accelerated students I interacted with a few weeks ago seemed very knowledgeable and satisfied with their program- but very tired.

You have to be prepared to have no life, no matter what accelerated program you choose.

When people leave our program they go to DeSales, not that it is a safety school, but because it is close by and comparable time frames and highly affordable.

hey, thanks for the info!! what program are you attending??? cedar crest?? if you hear from your friends, let me know. have a good weekend

Hi!

I'm interested in learning more about DeSales as well! In addition, what are the living arrangments like around the area? I've visited Center Valley before, the campus, but I'm an out of stater (across the river from NJ)...do you think the feat of finding suitable housing is likely? I'm willing to travel up to 20 minutes or so to campus, but I'm very unfamiliar with the area?...

Any info you can pass along would be great!

Thanks a bunch!

Hi MsBridgeMack,

There are many rental places in Quakertown (Bucks County)which is very close to DeSales (just South on route 309). I would also look in Hellertown and/or Bethlehem (Northampton County) which are also close to the DeSales campus.

Hi Everyone!

I don't know if anyone has started another thread, so I figured I'd post here! I was accepted to DeSales University accelerated BSN program for May of 2009.

I just wanted to say hello and congrats to any fellow students that may post on this thread!

I'm also in the market for housing/a roommate if any workable situation arises, I've already begun to look for myself!

If anyone is interested, feel free to PM for more information!

Best Wishes,

Brigitte

Hey, I also was interested in applying to the DeSales accelerated BSN. MsBridgeMack, how was the campus? Did they tell you how competitive it was, as in how many people apply and how many they accept? I tried to PM you but I think I need 15 posts or something first. Any info would be greatly appreciated, thanks!

I'm in the ACCESS B.S.N. program and begin Nursing Fundamentals in August. I'm really enjoying being back in school and pursuing a career in a great field, it's been a very positive experience at DeSales so far, although the nursing department could, I feel, be a bit more proactive in reaching out to students as I've never been contacted by them even once for anything. It's just reassuring to know that they know you exist and will provide you with any pertinent info when needed.

Hi John!

I'm glad to see another person does exist! I'm starting the Accelerated BSN program in just two weeks. I'm actually heading out to my apartment in PA today, to move some things in! I'm from NJ (Clinton area) but thought to commute with class from 8am-5 every day would be too much. I have reached out to post people here on this thread, and responded with as much information as possible...to pay it forward as well. I'll be curious to learn of your experiences along the road to nursing as well! Thanks for your reply! Have a lovely weekend!

Has anyone been in the accelerated nursing program at DeSales? I am starting that program in May and was wondering what people thought about it, if they were previous students or knew people who were. Thanks.
