Denver School of Nursing

U.S.A. Colorado

Anyone out there going to or planning on going to the Denver School of Nursing ... particularly their "upper division" RN program?

Just wondering your thoughts, esp. on the fact that they are not yet accredited as a baccalaureate program. Is that a concern for anyone who is a student or soon-to-be student?

After reading these posts, I just wanted to say, as someone who attended this school and recently graduated the LPN program, be careful when going beyond this level at this school. I passed the NCLEX, so obviously I learned something from the school, but to spend that amount of money on a school that is NOT accredited yet(for the upper division)may not be very wise. At my new job, word is already out that the school is not accredited and people are very leary about students from this school. Yes, it has a short wait list, but waiting two years to get into a reputable school may be worth it.

Hello, Infullbloom. I was just wondering if you could shed light on your specific concerns re the school. (Obviously, without breaching the TOS - maybe we could private message) I mean, you went to the school. You graduated the LPN course. You took the NCLEX-PN and passed (Congrats by the way!!!) So why now would you begin to doubt the school? I am not being sarcastic at all (sometimes I come across completely different than intended), but rather am desperately wanting to know. I too will start this school in a few short months and although I am very excited, I too have many lingering doubts or fears. (I was one of those Barnes Business College students who were left HIGH AND DRY when the school went belly up)

However, so far, the good about DSON has outweighed the bad with regard to what I have heard about it. Further, I am banking on the hope that they will be accredited by the time I graduate the LPN. (Rumor has it that this might take place Feb. 2006??)

Anyway, I would really appreciate any feedback on your experiences. How were the classes? Instructors? Clinicals? Anything...

Congrats again on passing the NCLEX-PN!!

I PM'd you- I hope it makes sense!!

Hi DanaS and Infullbloom,

I am a current student at DSON. I am very, very curious about what IFB's response might be to DS's questions?? Would you mind sharing your thoughts more publicly?

Thanks so much,

A slightly nervous DSON'er,

Anne

Whoops...I forgot to offer the heartiest of congratulations on passing your boards! The director of nursing at DSON came running into our class a few days ago to announce that their first student had passed! She was very proud, and I am assuming it was you! How is your first nursing job going?

Best,

Anne
