Hello, My name is Sierra and wanted to start this thread for students applying to DSN and students at DSN to ask questions and such. I would like to talk to others applying!
I want to start off by asking: Since DSN does not have an online application process, we are supposed to send in our application materials. We can apply from November 15- January 1st. I know that the sooner the better send sending in applications, but don't know if I should/ could send in my application that Monday, the 11th? What do you guys think?
So this is an update for those of you with a previous bachelor's degree. Basically you get to the interview and the dean talks to you about the history of the school and how things are set up. She then goes over your transcripts and any outstanding prerequisites that you have in progress. We talked about how I became interested in nursing and what qualities I have that would be beneficial to nursing. After the interview portion, she took me on a tour of the campus to show me the labs as well as the classrooms where I would be learning. One of the classes at the time was an IV lab and I was able to listen in for a couple minutes.
After the tour I met with financial aid and was given a lot of paperwork including information on vaccines necessary to start clinicals. Since I am an out of state student I was given the enrollment form to bring home and sign if I choose to do so. At this point I am almost certain I will be going. The whole DSN environment was friendly and welcoming. Hopefully it will be that way upon enrollment.
hey everyone. so looks like i found the thread for the July 2014 start. My friend and I started last quarter (April) and the two of us are looking for a third roommate for our awesome new apartment walking distance from school! Idk if they've told you yet, but parking is freaking miserable downtown and you waste way too much money on it! Especially during Rockies games. If any of you are stressing about needing a place to live, we are your solution!! To avoid putting all my contact info on here, go look on CraigsList Denver under "rooms/shared" or "apartments/housing" and search for a 3bd apartment in Five Points for $750! Or just email the school (Capra or Ruschival) and ask them, we've told them to be on the lookout. Ask for Dylan!
Good luck, and don't sweat it, everyone's totally nice here and willing to work with you!

Shel, I currently work as a CNA at UCH and since my department is not considered a "High Risk" department, a TB is not required annually...This really sucks!
