Denver School of Nursing - January 2017

Published

Hello!

I am starting this thread for those that will beginning the application process for the Denver School of Nursing - January 2017 start.

I have been working very hard for the past few years to finish up prerequisites and am so excited to finally be able to apply! I am a little nervous about the whole process, but feel like I have gotten a lot of information about the application process and school by reading other threads on this site.

It would be great to connect with other people that are in the same shoes as me and go through this process "together" !

Thanks!

Anna

I also can't send you a private message. :( I was emailed back for an interview on Aug 29th but had to decline that date...I hope that doesn't reflect negatively on me! I am so paranoid about not getting in! I've been applying to nursing schools for 4 years now!

Has anybody gone to an interview yet? There hasn't been much activity in this thread for almost a month now and I was just curious to hear about interview experiences. Has anybody been rejected after their interview? My interview isn't for another 3 weeks, but I'm very anxious because I plan on quitting my job and moving from Georgia to Colorado if I'm accepted. I'm not sure when official acceptances are given out, but I hope it's sooner than later because I barely have enough time to prepare as is.

My interview is in two weeks and I am getting very excited but also feeling a little nervous. I will have to relocate also but a much shorter distance than you. Good luck!

How'd everyones interview go? Mine went great, going down for the HESI on Wed and am doing the drug test and financial aid then. Still need to get vaccine titers and the physical done. I have no clue where to really go for those things yet!

Hi Dsmith84! Last time I spoke with you I was telling you I was an alternate. Well guess what?! A spot opened up! I had my interview 3 weeks ago, it went great. Like everyone says, it was not like a typical interview. I only got asked like 3 questions and the rest was info. I also have my exam and drug test this Wednesday! A little nervous about it! Has anyone taken it yet? Was it difficult? I've been studying the book loaned to me by DSN and a hesi study app on my iPhone that was recommended to me by DSN. For my immunizarions I went to my primary physician. I believe at the end of the immunization document you get at the interview there's a list of like 2 places you can go get them done! Hope I get to meet you on Wednesday and good luck!

Yea! We can meet in person! I wonder how many other people will be there wed? This will be my 3rd time taking a HESI test, first time for the grammar portion. The math section usually has mostly ratio questions but be sure to know military time and your conversion. Vocab is very straight forward, and mostly common knowledge. I seem to always struggle with reading comprehension....I have NO CLUE as to why as it was always my strongest point on standardized tests in the high school. I am not so great at grammar so am worried about that portion. But she said they avg the score for all 3 portions together. So as long as I score High on vocab, and okay on the other two I'm hoping to do well.

I'm looking into applying to the Denver School of Nursing for the Summer of 2017 for the BSN option. Does anyone have any idea of what the typical class schedule is like? What days of the week and what times the classes actually run? The website basically says be available 7 days a week and for classes to go until 9pm at times. I know there's gotta be more specifics out there from someone who is already a student or going to be a student there soon. Any info would be great. Thanks!

They arent lying when they say be available 7 days a week until 9 pm. I graduated early this year and my schedule was basically class for 4-5 days the first 2 quarters then when clinical started it was 2-3. The last quarter is all online and all clinical. The latest class I had ran until 7 one Day a week. The reason they say that is for clinical. They are extremely hard to find in Denver so take what you can get. You will get a good experience if you make the most out of it.
