Hey there! I just applied to the DSN BSN completion program for January, 2015 start date. Was wondering if anyone else has applied or will be applying to DSN? I live in Oregon and would have to move to Colorado, but if I get my BSN out of the process I will be happy!
Hey for anyone looking for a possible roommate I am trying to plan ahead so feel free to email me @ [email protected] or find me on FB @ Lauren Bleil (pretty sure I'm the only one..) ..good luck to everyone on their interviews!
Am in the same boat, worried about financial load, the enormous amount of school work and not being able to be there for my kids while going to school... Anyone have any input on DSN; where to find cheap parking, scholarships, and especially school work tips - it would be greatly appreciated because am freaking out over here since I also start Jan 2015 .Oh does anyone know the actual start date?
I applied for the october Start date, and was chosen to be an alternate. I did not get in for october, but have been directed toward the january start date. I talked to the director and he said my grades were just fine (3.05) but that my Doula and hospital security was not enough, he recommended i get my CNA so this semester i am doing CNA and pathophysiology.
Those who are worried about the tuition, i did a lot of research, and although its pricey, other programs that look less costly, have way more out of pocket costs that arent listed.
I am hoping to go to DSN because of its location, it is the perfect location for where i live, and I think i will be heart broken if i get rejected twice. I want so badly to become a nurse midwife. And this is a huge hang up for me.

So were you asked for the interview for January? I am an alternate for January and am hoping to make it in for january from the alternate list or be accepted for April.
I am also a doula and have a lot of other health care experience. I, too, want to be a CNM.
I have a 3.06 gpa (we are similar haha). If you don't mind me asking, what was your pre-req gpa?
Thanks!
I applied to october cohort, put on as an alternate, but I did not make the cut. They applied me to the January cohort, and i spoke with the Director on the phone to ask him what i can do, and he just told me the only thing i can do was to get my CNA, because my Birth Doula Certification and experience wasn't enough but he said i was "on the cusp" and "super close". So, I am doing that this semester, and I also wrote a new letter of intent for this application. He told me they would contact me by email. Im not sure what a call would do now, you know?

I found out a few days ago that I have an interview in mid-October! Yay!
However, I am concerned about paying for the program. Obviously, like most of the rest of you, I won't be able to work during the program. Will most of you be taking personal loans to cover the tuition that is not covered by federal student loans? This is the major thing I am concerned about (and my fiance, who is moving with me and will start job hunting in Denver, is VERY concerned).
