you shouldn't have a problem. i use to collect urine drug screens as a cma, and when we collected them we were just to fill out the info on the form. there isn't a place to list medications on the one we had. it was up to a physician and his administrative assistant to review the report and obtain precription information after the results were in.
personally, i've had some drug screens ask for meds before hand and i've had some that didn't. it just depends on facility policy.
This comes back to HIPAA and ADA...you have the right to have a condition treated.
They cannot deny you employment because you have a valid medical condition and have a valid prescription...whether or not it shows up on a drug test, as long as you can provide documentation to prove it.
It sounds like what happened (because I was recently prescribed a medication that shows up on drug tests)...is that they don't want to ask for any medication...b/c they don't WANT to know everything you are on...they only want to know what shows up on the drug tests.
That is why they said they didn't need it and called you when it came back positive...because the results probably went to someone different.
THEN they ask you to bring in the prescription.
To only ask for you to bring in prescriptions that show up on a drug test is a way to protect your privacy...because they don't need the full list of everything you are on.
Here in Texas, we were not allowed to write any medications on the UDS form prior to the screening. If a test comes back positive, it is sent to a Medical Review Officer for review. The MRO is a licensed physician who will review the result, check and verify the prescription and report back to the company. It will be reported as a Verified positive meaning it was positive for a legitimate prescription and NOT an illegal substance. The employer can't refuse employment based on verified positives. Hope this helps.

Thanks for your input, reading all thease are helping me to remain positive as I wait for final word. I did call UDS to follow up and they too said they have the documentation they need and the physician will review it then forward to my "potential employer" (I"m New York State). This is just still driving me crazy not knowing. While everyone keeps telling me not to worry and that I can't get denied b/c of adderal, I just keep feeling they will hold that against me and come up with some other reason to deny me, just so it will look proper.

Freaking out as I await word!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I was hired at a local hospital and had the first part of a 2 part physical last Thursday which included a urine drug test. Anyway. Im on adderall and disclosed that to them and brought my script with me but they said they didn't need it. So they call me 5 days later and asked if I was on medication, I'm like...........Ah yeah ( I mean I did tell that to them prior), so they asked me to bring in script and I did. The secretary wrote it down and said ok Thankyou and thats all she said. As I sit here and wait for them to call me for the second part of physical, I'm freaking thinking they could deny me for employment d/t being that Adderall is an amphetamine!!!!!! I'm I over analyizing this???????? Any thoughts. Thank you.
