Demand for Federal Nurse Jobs?

Is there a demand for jobs as a federal nurse? I know it is hard to get on with the government. I was just wondering if nursing was as hard to get on.

I just starting working for the VA as a new-grad RN. The demand was there and everyone in HR has been very helpful and polite. The hard thing about getting started seems to be the amount of paperwork and an extremely comprehensive background check, but again, HR was very helpful with this. Demand probably varies among regions, but if your local facility has a nursing recruiter, maybe she or he would be able to help?
