Delta State University FNP

Does anyone have information on Delta State's FNP program? I understand that it's completely online. I was told that they only received approximately 40 applications this year. That's a rather low number. Has anyone gone through the program or know anyone who has?

We've moved your thread to our Student NP forum with the goal of attracting some responses. Good luck to you.

I am currently enrolled at Delta State University's RN to DNP program. I am currently in my 3rd semester of graduate work. It is completely online. Each fall, I do drive the 2.5 hours from Memphis, TN to the optional but recommended orientation. In my class, there are students from Texas, Mississippi, Tennessee and Arkansas. Please let me know if you have any questions. I love the school and love the program. I am set to graduate in May 2018.

I would love to hear more about the FNP program -- what was the admission process like, how are classes structured, cost, difficulty, clinicals, etc. I am considering this program, so any insight you have would be helpful! Thanks!

The admission process was not too bad at all. They do require a GRE, the score requirement is reasonable. I scored more than enough to get accepted. The cost is exceptional. They are the lowest cost graduate program I could find in the country. They have a full time and part time tract for MSN and DNP students. The clinicals are in my area. I had to find a preceptor for my FNP classes. After making several calls, I already have my preceptor for the fall lined up. The classes are structured like any other class. The assignments are scattered throughout the semester and are very reasonable. The faculty is amazing. The instructors want you to be successful and are very encouraging. Judy is the administrative assistant and the go to person. She is a blessing. If I knew how amazing DSU was when I graduated from an ADN program, I would have started LONG before now. They are an A+ in my book.

Hi! Sorry for dragging out an old post. What do they charge per credit? I'm looking to do an MSN/FNP to DNP bridge. Thank you!

They do not charge per credit for full time. You pay one lump sum each semester and take the classes you need. They also do NOT charge out of state tuition for anyone. Undergrad and Graduate load is the same price for full time.

Full-Time Students (per semester)

Undergraduates 12-19 hours $3,369.50

Graduates 9-13 hours $3,369.50

*Course related fees may apply. Please consult the Graduate/Undergraduate University Catalog online for an estimation of these fees.

Part-Time Tuition (per hour)

Undergraduate $281.00

Graduate $374.50

Hope this helps.... I am only 2 semesters from finishing now.... :)

Hi. I graduated from Delta State for my RN-BSN and MSN, FNP. I am now enrolled in the DNP program there as well. The admissions have been limited due to geographical location, however, the admissions have increased since I graduated 8 years ago. It is primarily online, however, there are a couple of times a semester that is required to be on campus. Most testing is online, but the final is on campus. You may have a check-off on campus, but definitely at the clinical site. The course work is online, the practicum (clinical) is at a site of your choosing pertaining to semester content. It has been a successful program, even to the point of adding the DNP program several years ago. The instructors are mostly based on campus, but there are a few adjunct faculty. There are timely responses by email. If a conference is scheduled, usually it is done by a videoing system like Skype. They try to make it very easy to go back to school at a distance. Oh, and it was rated in Dec 2016 as the #1 school for your money. 100% success rate on certification last year. Hope this helps. www.deltastate.edu Robert E. Smith School of Nursing

I'm sorry also to open this old thread. I have applied to the FNP program and i would like to know how long does it usually take to hear from them to setup an interview to finish the application process.
