how do i approach this ......?
i have currently applied to 2 hospitals that are both equally my top choices....one hospital has offered me a position already...and has given me til the end of this week to make my final decision...hospital 2 will not notify me of their final decisions til 2 more weeks....who should i contact, should i contact hospital 2 at the end of this week to let me know where i actually stand...or contact hospital 1 to ask for more time? i dont know what would be the right decision or approach...bc i cant decide between the two...and i dont wanna jeopardize my chances for both hospitals...
please help!!!!

I think I would go with the sure thing. You said they are equally your top choices; you can't wait on the other hospital to let you know something, when you have an offer right in front of you. And we all need to start working as soon as possible to finally bring some money in!
Instead of jeopardizing your chances, go for the one you already have an offer for. If it turns out, for whatever reason, that you don't like it, you can always reapply later on at the other hospital. It looks better on you to accept an offer, and turn down the other hospital when they finally make one, then to turn down one to wait on another.

In my experience, once you are offered a position, you have the upper hand. Don't be afraid to ask for more time, but you may have to make up a good excuse(don't tell them you're waiting for another hospital...say something more along the lines of you dont know if your family is willing to relocate so you need more time to decide or something like that)
As for the other hospital that hasn't told you yet, contact your HR person there and tell them that you have another job offer that has a time restraint but that you REALLY WOULD RATHER WORK AT THIS HOSPITAL and see if they'll give you an answer earlier. That way the know you are wanted somewhere else. See if you can contact the manager of the unit directly, they are the ones that make the final yes or no decision. And it's the quickest way to get an answer.
Don't underestimate your worth. Hospitals are short staffed everywhere and they NEED new nurses. Good luck!

I think I agree to just take the offer you've gotten, IF the two are truly equal and desirable to you. I do like the idea of going back to the 2nd hospital and explaining to them that Hospital 1 has offered you a position, and you would really prefer Hospital 2 but can't wait much longer to make a decision ... maybe they will let you know whether they have a spot for you or not.

Wow that is crazy I am in almost the EXACT same situation, even the timing!! I did contact hospital 2 and told them I had another offer, but they didn't seem too concerned they just told me to make my decision and let them know if I wanted to continue with the interview process (I have already had a couple of interviews). I guess they are having more applicants than positions. The big difference for me is they are in two different areas, and I want the position at Hospital 2 more. Should I turn down Hospital 1's offer, hoping I get the one at Hospital 2? If I do, and I don't get the second one, I'm unemployed?!?! This really stinks...
