December Test Takers Support Group

Nursing Students NCLEX

Published

So, I finally feel I should not give up......I will be a retaker for 2nd time in December. I felt so low when I failed the test in July'07. I was thinking to take in october but just couldnt get motivated to study. In the meantime, I joined RN-BSN program. So, currently I am in school taking 15 credits of classes. I need to have my RN license before winter so I can do practical in communnity health, a required class for BSN.

After visiting this site almost everyday, reading success stories and encouragement given by one of my wonderful instructor from my ASN program, I am motivated to do it.

So, newcomers as well as retakers, Lets get together, support each other and lets pass the RN test. WE CAN DO IT.

For now, I have started practicing Q&A at least 2 hrs/day from Saunders CD. I will keep you updating and hope you all will share the tips as well.

GOOD LUCK TO ALL OF US. :welcome: TO THE SUPPORT GROUP .

I started doing questions from middle of october using my teachers plan...using saunders...suzanne also recommend the same book. I studied regularly like 2 hrs in the morning and 2 hrs at night until december. from december i studied about 4-6 hrs a day. somedays i didn't study at all when i couldn't focus....majority of saturdays i took break. each system took me about 4-5 days. i did not do 100 questions per day like suzanne said. i focused on understanding rationales and reviewing what i got wrong. somedays i did 50-60 questions only otherdays i did like 100-200 questions depending on my need to review. for example, it took 6 days to finish neuro but took 1 day to finish renal system. but avg. i took 4-5 days per system.

Before two weeks of test (18 days to be exact)....I did about 30-50 questions a day from PDA reading all rationales and also reviewing like major drug classes, labs, diagnostic tests, infections everyday.

Thank you wizard for the info...have you ever consider becomming a travel nurse? Hawaii is hiring travel nurses. I work as an LPN at a small long term facility with an ER on the Big Island. My DON hired a travel nurse from Canada and she loves it here. Some of the travel nurses do about a year and some have stayed longer. Something to think about.

how's everyone?? hope to hear from you guys. i already got a job offer. but i didn't accept it yet coz i'm still waiting for another interview. i just kinda want to have a choice between two hospitals. do you think i'm doing the right thing? or should i just accept that job offer immediately?

anyhow, can anyone share what you would usually do in the first days on your job? i have no experience yet and i'm an international grad that's why i'm kinda nervous about it.

hope to hear from you all. goodluck to those who are still waiting. thanks again to my December family! Godbless everyone!

Hey my december fellows,

Some of you might have remembered that I was scheduled to take test on Dec 14th then Dec 21st then Dec 28th then January 18th. My ATT expiration date was Jan 21 and Jan 21 is holiday for MLK. If there was no expiration date I would have postponed again. NCLEX is so vast to nail everything. Anyway....I just wanted to let you guys know I just came back pearson testing center.

I took my NCLEX today, ya today!!! I dont know how it will turn out. I am super scared.

First time I took, I had about 180 or 190 questions or something like that in September. I took it today and the test ended about 110 or 111. Last time I looked at the question number was 109 and time left was 2 hr 25 mins. I was thinking to take a break and speed up if I have to sit for 265 but then after couple questions it shut off. I thought for a minute it was asking me break but it asked me to fill the survey.......

My heart is sore and aching....feel like I have post test stress angina..lol...I had 180 before....now 110...what does it really mean???? I hope I passed. I dont know if last question I got is right or wrong because it was a communication question. This time I felt I was able to throw two out and the problem always remaining with the two left. Last time I did not use elimination process. I chose based on what I felt was right.

Please pray for me as I definitely do not want to go for third round....monday is MLK Jr. day...will the quick result work on holidays. My state participate in quick results.

Special thanks to eliza for letting me use the kaplan. I think I was able to eliminate two answers right away because of Kaplan. May God Always Bless You Eliza!!! And May You Spread This Kind and Good Samiritan Service As A Nurse To Millions!!!

Thank you for everyone else....tfloRN for you advice to take time and not rush. Last time I had 180 questions and I finished in 21/2 hrs...today 31/2 hrs for 110Q, wizard100 for inspiring everyone, massou...my pal for Jan as well and all others in this forum.

I said a prayer for you today. I'm just glad you're done with it. I'm really happy that Kaplan helped you in some ways. I can't wait to hear the good news. I know that you've worked hard for this. Godbless!!! thank you too so much for your motivation! Keep us posted okay.
