So, I finally feel I should not give up......I will be a retaker for 2nd time in December. I felt so low when I failed the test in July'07. I was thinking to take in october but just couldnt get motivated to study. In the meantime, I joined RN-BSN program. So, currently I am in school taking 15 credits of classes. I need to have my RN license before winter so I can do practical in communnity health, a required class for BSN.
After visiting this site almost everyday, reading success stories and encouragement given by one of my wonderful instructor from my ASN program, I am motivated to do it.
So, newcomers as well as retakers, Lets get together, support each other and lets pass the RN test. WE CAN DO IT.
For now, I have started practicing Q&A at least 2 hrs/day from Saunders CD. I will keep you updating and hope you all will share the tips as well.
GOOD LUCK TO ALL OF US. :welcome: TO THE SUPPORT GROUP .

this really may sound very dumb question...hope u don't mind....i am still stuck
when you are decompressing stomach using ng tube......what does that mean ???? we use ng tube for various reasons.....but decompressing as i understand in lay terms means removing pressure.....when we use ng tube for decompressing.......is it removing the pressure from fluid build up, constipation, air build up from surgery ???
i have been getting ng questions wrong and i feel i understand the concept but still hard to imply....i dont understand the reason to use ng tube if someone is vomiting.....or when someone has bowel obstruction.....can someone make it easy to understand, please. thnx in adv.
I also failed the NCLEX the first time I took it in October with 183 questions. I defnitely let anxiety get the best of me, I started rushing through the questions just trying to get done. I was absolutely devastated! I had no confidence and didn't even want to think about studying again! But about a week later I knew that this was the only profession I would ever want to work in and it was worth taking the test as many times as I had too! I kept telling myself the 2nd time I take the nclex that I would own that test. I walked into the testing center the 2nd with soooo much more confidence and so much calmer than the first time. I was done at 75 q's and knew that I had passed, even though waiting two days to find out did mess with my confidence a little! I even had to check pearsonvue 3 times to make sure it said I passed!
The main thing I did different was just practicing questions instead of reviewing material. I also made myself take all the time I needed to answer the questions. It took me 2 hours to do 75q's! That's slow for me, it took me 2 1/2 hours to do the 183 q's my first time I took the nclex.
YOU CAN DO IT! HAVE CONFIDENCE IN YOURSELF! IT'S ALL ABOUT CONTROLLING YOUR ANXIETY AND WALKING IN THE TESTING ROOM WITH CONFIDENCE, even if it's fake!
GOOD LUCK!
Wow! 2 hours for 75 questions?? That's great! Mine also ended at 75 Q and it took me 3 1/2 hours! I swear if my test went on until 265... I dunno if I would've had enough time. Hehe! I also felt confident after taking the test, but right now, I am having self-doubts! Plus the waiting period is just killing me!! I took the test on a Friday, so I had to wait until Tuesday to find out from BON! Oh well! I reallyyyy do hope I get that RN license for the best xmas gift ever!!
Congrats, RN!!!
