  1. Alright. No discrimination there. But it wasn't like I'm serious about filing a lawsuit or a complaint. I just complained about the ATTITUDE. That's all. The fact that I was talked down without having to utter a single word, that was what threw me off. It just did not seem professional. Guess I'll just wait until I obtain my BSN to be able to work as an RN again. Disappointing, but left with no choice. Thanks guys.
  2. "It is illegal to discriminate against someone based on sex, race, color, disability status, or anyone with a future employment expiration date." Well that's what it says on their application for employment! Also, they have an At-Will employment policy, that employees can quit anytime with or without reason, at least two weeks prior, which I did. Believe me, I read EVERY SINGLE THING they handed out to me because I was SO CAREFUL with this employment given my situation.
  3. Did you actually submit a copy of your EAD to them when you started? --> Of course I did. You also are not going to be able to work after next week until you meet the requirements once again to be able to do so. You are unable to automatically continue as before. You will have to apply again when the time is ready for it. --> Thanks, but I do know that. And this was a training program, as it was part of the OPT and student visa, so there was never any discrimination to you made. Not sure why you were even thinking that. --> I felt discriminated in a sense that I was told to "clock out, leave immediately, and get my last paycheck" WITHOUT asking me anything about the matter. I felt like I had some kind of disease that I had to go home pronto. Plus this was not the same person I explained my situation to, I have not even talked to this person, so I do not think I deserved to be treated like that. Everyone at work thinks what they did to me was wrong, even the doctors and the nurses, because they could have at least either not made me go to work that day or just have me end my shift in a dignified manner. And what were you actually planning to do when you could not work after next week? --> There's a 60-day grace period following my OPT and I'm going back to school for my BSN. Did you submit a letter to them telling them that fact before they asked you to do that. --> They just asked me to submit a letter yesterday, which I was supposed to submit today. But I didn't get a chance to when they gave me the big shocker. They also could have been upset that you would not be providing them with two weeks notice and suspect that is what caused you issues as well. --> If I'm counting it right, it's exactly TWO WEEKS from the time I told them to the time when I plan my last day at work to be. But please, do not try to blame it on anything else at all. There is just no reason for it. --> I am just upset; I hope you understand that. I just thought I still have a week to go and save a little bit more. But oh well...
  4. Been accepted at a univ and will get my bachelor's this upcoming fall. The thing was, my visa has not expired yet and the lady talked to me like she just wanted me out of the building as soon as possible. It was humiliating and degrading in a way.
  5. Hello everyone! It's been a while since I've last been here. I've been working at a long term/acute care facility as an RN for a couple of weeks now when they fired me on the spot earlier when they found out about my future OPT expiration date. I have informed one of them earlier this week about my situation, and was told to write a letter stating the last day I can legally work, which is at the end of this month. I went to work today until I was asked to come down to the administrative office and was asked by this other person to leave immediately because I won't be able to work past this month anyway. I was taken aback, since I thought I still at least have a week to go. I am not under any contract, so basically I think I can quit anytime. I just wanted to know if I have been wrong in feeling upset and discriminated upon, that what they did was actually right all along. I just thought that as long as I can legally work, I'll be able to do so. Everyone at work was pretty shocked about what they did to me, and I can't really blame them because I am saddened and upset by this too. Anyway, I hope to get your feedback regarding this. I would really appreciate this. Thank you and more power to nurses!! Let the retrogression end soon!! Hehe
  6. I definitely will! Thank you sooooo sooooo muchhhh for EVERYTHING. :-) May God bless you always Ms. Suzanne =) Wheeeeee! I'm actually an RN! Still can't believe it!
  7. I PASSED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I GOT MY LICENSE TODAY!!!!!!!!!!! :redbeathe Thank you God!!!!!!! Thank you Ms. Suzanne!!!!!! Thank you to all members of this wonderful community!!!!! Wheeeeeee!!! ... Okay I have to tend to my family now. They're crying buckets, wonder why I'm not. Hehehe! WOOHOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  8. Also, I didn't get even a single math question. What does that mean? I'm scared coz I kind of tried to answer a bit faster at the last hour, but not to the point when I didn't even analyze the questions. It's just that the time and the fact that it was not shutting off was almost giving me a major panic attack.
  9. Hi, I know there has been a post about this, but I just don't know. My comp shut off at 253 because I ran out of time. I am sooo disappointed I can't stop crying. I cannot remember much about the last 60 questions or so, but I remember there were several times when I kept getting priority questions one after another, and some of the questions were kind of being paraphrased. Too many priority Q's, usually like 5-7 in a row then back again. Wahhhh =( I really do not know. what are my chances? *sigh*
  10. Hi all! I'm on F1 visa and I got my ADN here in Philly, but seeing as how it's very difficult to get employment here, even as an RN, I'm now looking at several options, like probably moving to Florida once I pass my boards. I have a friend who moved there as soon as we graduated. He's also an int'l student like me; got the hospital to sponsor him and pay for his living expenses, attorney's fees, travel expenses, and practically everything he needed as soon as he got to Florida. Also, right now, his hospital is going to pay for his lawyer's fees, and trying to do everything they can just so they can secure his employment and stay in the US. I know there are no visas available right now, and seeing as this issue will not be resolved soon, I'm quite in a very sticky situation myself. I was just wondering, does anyone know of any hospitals in Florida that offer visa sponsorship for int'l students? And if they do, do they also offer the same benefits like what they did to my friend? I know there's no guarantee of staying here in the US, but at least the benefits (and the fact that it's probably going to be much easier to get a job there), I'm now really considering moving. So please, if anyone can provide me with any sort of insight about my situation, I would be forever grateful. THANKS IN ADVANCE!!!
  11. I got my results in the mail exactly two business days. And I would've thought it'll come like a week at least. Good luck with your review! I dunno if and when I wanna start mine againnn. Ugh. Haha.
  12. I'm thinking the one with IDDM because he's restless and that indicates hypoxia. Very impt to consider. Also, a BG of 350 could be DKA. Pain is psychosocial, unless it's pain unrelieved by medication, then it's Compartment Syndrome, so circulation would be an issue. Hope i'm right. =)
  13. Hi guys, I just have a question. Did anyone else got their results in the mail like, 2 business days after taking the test? Coz I got mine yesterday, and to tell you the truth, I was surprised because it was really quick. And I really felt quite confident answering most of the questions, you know. I even felt some of the questions than easier than Kaplan's. So I really do not know what happened. Like I was really not meant to get my license this time. Hmmm. Thanks for the words of encouragement, everyone. Appreciate them. =)
  14. Oh don't worry about it. I would've really hoped that message was true, though! Hehe. No hard feelings here. =)
  15. Thanks, because right now, I don't think have those qualities. =( I just don't wanna take it again =( I studied for 3 months with Kaplan, and I felt I gained a lot more knowledge and understanding, but I just screwed everything up. I do not know how to start over again.
