So, I finally feel I should not give up......I will be a retaker for 2nd time in December. I felt so low when I failed the test in July'07. I was thinking to take in october but just couldnt get motivated to study. In the meantime, I joined RN-BSN program. So, currently I am in school taking 15 credits of classes. I need to have my RN license before winter so I can do practical in communnity health, a required class for BSN.
After visiting this site almost everyday, reading success stories and encouragement given by one of my wonderful instructor from my ASN program, I am motivated to do it.
So, newcomers as well as retakers, Lets get together, support each other and lets pass the RN test. WE CAN DO IT.
For now, I have started practicing Q&A at least 2 hrs/day from Saunders CD. I will keep you updating and hope you all will share the tips as well.
GOOD LUCK TO ALL OF US. :welcome: TO THE SUPPORT GROUP .
i rescheduled to 28th. hopefully one week will buy me a little more time. those who passed, please pray for us all. we need it is anyone feeling the same as i am?? or its same old me:icon_rolleyes: [mouse]duh huh![/mouse]

protein should be increased cuz protein is excreted in nephrotic syndrome.. so u should increase chon and cho in the diet..
as for the other things, i think it would help if u consult ur books :)
congrats for everyone who passed so far!!!
i hope i join the group!
purna,
i think for any kind of kidney disease illness----nephrotic syndrome, glomerulonephritis, renal failure etc.... protein intake should be limited or decreased because kidney is not able to handle the ammonia it produces as a digestion of protein. i think nitrogen and ammonia are the byproducts of protein metabolism. again with peritoneal dialysis....protein should be limited because kidney cant get rid of the byproduct and dialysis is done only two or three times a day. You can help control buildup of these substances by avoiding foods that tend to make the problem worse. people with kidney disease are on sodium/protein/fluid restriction or limitation.

HUH!!! I need to revise then.
Although the nephrotic syndrome is caused by the loss of protein into your urine, eating a high-protein diet does not help and may actually make matters worse. thats what i thought......
for some reason in my head majority of kidney diseases have protein restriction.... except kidney cancer. am i right or wrong???
purna,
i think this is short and sweet and easy to remember.

WAstateRN thanks for the website. i will check it. I think Nursingboy is right that we should give increase protein for pt with nephrotic syndrome. i read somewhere about it too. i get these diet questions wrong all the time. I had so many diet questions on my last test..therefore this time i want to make sure i get them.
