i am so upset, i just took my nclex rn for the 3rd time on july 22nd and failed. first of all, i graduated in 2008 and did not take my exam for the 1st time till 2010 and then again in 2010 with the same result. i had 156 questions the 1st, 136 the 2nd and 161 the 3rd. i studied differently, but i think my problem is to study smarter not harder!! i have a hard time applying the nursing process and using maslow.. i need to learn how to study that way,, anyone have any ideas??? :idea:i have been an lpn since 2003 and i have not done patient care since 2004. my husband moved to washington state december 2010 and i only get to see him once a month:eek:
i have beed with the same company almost 5 years now and i had a position lined up to transfer to washington, but only if i passed my exam, i am so sick right now...

Unfortunately you waited so long to take it, which always make it harder to pass, but life happens and we cant control it. I can recommend so many books like Saunders and La Charity, and tell you to study only 2 hours a day, do questions and read the rationales. But in your situation I think a review course like Hurst will help you out. I think you will benefit from being in a class room like environment and have someone teach you. If you are able to do a review course which all of them are close to or over $400, also get books to practice questions which I think is a big part of passing the exam. I'll recommend La Charity and Exam Cram.
Good luck, love that you havent given up, you will be a nurse, prayer is a major part of success.
Thank you for your encouragement and recommendations. I have listened to Hurst online and reviewed her material. I feel that I have lost my ability to take this exam,,,I feel like I know most of the material but I believe that I am not applying it correctly. The NCLEX is sooo different then any other exam.. I will begin studying again today and yes, I have been studying too long and incorrectly so I hope I will pass in September!

i would also recommend kaplan, read their book and answer their questions, try considering kaplan's Qtrainers too but then again you have to spend time studying the rationales and looking up things that you're not familiar with. goodluck to you..
