what a day

Dont you just hate those days where nothing goes right? Well, i had one today. it was horrible!!!!

I started off with six patients this morning. Wanna know how many i saw? two. yep just two. and i drove around 120 miles to do it. Wonderful day....just ******* wonderful. first pt was supposed to be fasting but b/c i forgot to call and remind her yesterday, she had already ate at 0730. no biggie, catch you tomorrow.

after an hour and a half of paperwork, i head to my next pt who said he would be home all day. yeah right. he was walking out the door as i pulled up. had no time for me to do a quick assessment or anything!

so i get in my car and go to my next pts home, out in the middle of Gods country! When i get there it has been a total of almost 90 miles. nice. first time seeing the woman. has 8-9 dogs barking in the window and four-six cats on the couch. i could almost feel the fleas crawling on me.

After leaving i head to my next pts home who is, of course, not there. the next one i can see through the window but will not come to the door and let me in. i called her when i got cell service and she said she was just too tired today. welcome to the club lady! so then i head back to the first guys house who is now supposed to be home and he is, finally.

so then after seeing him, i drive 40 miles back to the office then shop for groc. and finally head home where my husband will cook. Thank the Lord! So yeah, that was my day. Hope everyone elses was a whole heck of alot better.

I don't have a case right now but I sure don't think I would want what you went through today in order to say I had a job.

Sorry you had such a bad day. Hope tomorrow is better. I've seen a couple bad ones lately too. It can be so frustrating but then I remember what a bad day in hospital nursing can be like and I thinki at least I get some time to take those deep breaths when I am driving all those miles.

Thanks all. today was much better. I ended up seeing 11 so i am worn out! Just cant wait for the weekend!:yeah:

Thanks for the laugh. I thought I was the only one that had days like that--ha! Except, mine usually involve rain, and waiting at some gate trying to talk to Merdle who can't hear me to open the gate for me. All the while, I'm getting soaked since I have to have the window down for her to hear me ask her to open the gate. Then, when I get to her apt, she looks down her nose at me, because I have the nerve to come to her house so wet. As if I drive around wet in my car, looking for houses to go to.

Ahhhh, the life of HH nurses.
