Paper Vs Computer?
Okay I originally asked what do you prefer paper or computer and found out it depended on the software and computer. I will be using a mobile tablet unit and MAT software by Riversoft. Does anyone use this, can you tell me how you like it and does it cut down the time from paper charting? Thanks in advance. Peggy

Paper Vs Computer?
As soon as I get to that part of the orientation where I find out the computer and program I will post again, but in the meantime thanks so much for your opinions. I have been in homecare about 9 mos now and although I love it most days, I do miss interaction with other nurses. P

Paper Vs Computer?
I've accepted a new position with a HH company that does computer charting. I've only ever done paper charting in home health. What are the pros and cons? Thanks Peggy

HELP! Is this ethical or even legal??
So how do we organize a nationwide union?

Too good to be true?
sounds like we are working for the same bad comapny!!

books to help with better charting
I have the same problem, I find that we do not see any one else's notes very often as hospital nurses do. I often find myself struggling for the right terminology when writing notes. Hope someone has some good ideas I have the Incredibly Easy book and another whose title escapes me at present, but they are not really all that helpful.

Have you completed the OASIS C yet?
i was handed the manual and things go on as usual

forced overtime??
Karen RN I really need to take a chapter from your book. I am doing hours and hours of paperwork at home and I want to stop. Its going to be real hard to recondition my employer that I am tired of being taken advantage of but I am going to try. thanks for the encouragement. I am going to find out the labor laws in my state but being that Fl is a right to work state I doubt there is very much protection. How I yearn for a union. We havent even been trained for the new Oasis yet or given the new forms. I see trouble brewing.

Dilema: Hourly or Per Visit
I wish nurses were more open to talk aout salaries. I work home health and think I made a huge mistake salary wise. I work for a straight salary. I am "on call" for every other weekend and that is included in the annual salary, I am required to work holidays and that is included as well.On call includes any SOC that come in as well as daily wound cares and any emergent prn visits. I am expected to do at least 30 points a week but dont get paid for any above that but I dont get paid less if there is not enough work either which rarely happens. I do not get any mileage either. Is it as bad as I think?

what a day
Sorry you had such a bad day. Hope tomorrow is better. I've seen a couple bad ones lately too. It can be so frustrating but then I remember what a bad day in hospital nursing can be like and I thinki at least I get some time to take those deep breaths when I am driving all those miles.

Any current "happy nurses" in HH?
Basically love my job especially having one patient at a time. Hate the time consuming paperwork, phone calls while driving and patient load with patients at all ends of the county, but I still say a bad day in homecare beats 3 good ones in the hospital anytime.
