DaVita PCT interview tomorrow

I said I would apply to DaVita. I have been applying to them for three years now since I've been certified as a clinical medical assistant. Then when I became a cna I applied and applied and never was successful as far as getting a call back. This month I applied to all pct positions in my city and almost instantly I got an assessment to do in my email. I was surprised and excited so I completed the assessment and got a call 2 days later. The call was inviting me for a share day/ interview.

Tomorrow is the big day. I have to be there at 5:30am and still have no idea what scrubs I'm wearing or how I'm going to get there. I drive but it's downtown and I don't have money for expensive downtown parking garages right now so I figured I'd take the subway but it doesn't begin to run until 5:00 and I would like to be halfway to my destination by 5:00. These are the small issues. I'll figure them out before I go to bed but what I want to know is what goes on during a share day?

I came up with questions that I want to bring, on paper but when would it be appropriate to pull out a piece of paper? I'm trying to memorize my honest questions and interview answers so I'm not being weird and unprofressional. How do I prove while I'm on the floor (with no dialysis experience) I'm serious about this and want the job without being annoying or in the way? What should I really be expecting? Will I be there for 5 hours? If I'm offered a position how much pay should I expect? I'm so nervous and could go on and on with my questions but I'll stop here.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

I think you should just observe and try to ask a lot of questions. At some point you'll probably sit down with someone and then you can pull out your paper and ask questions. Good luck!

Thanks schnookimz. With my last job orientation I did just that but after the day was over I felt like they wanted me to do more. I just want to be doing the "right" thing. I'm definitely going to observe and ask questions though. I know patient interaction will be key as well. Thanks so much

I hope you didn't wear scrubs to your interview... :nailbiting:

I did indeed wear scrubs. The person who set up my interview told me to but it was also a share day where I was on the floor actually doing some work and touching patients and cleaning up their blood and their dialysis machines for the first four hours and then the last 30/40 minutes I had an actual interview. It went pretty well, if I do say so myself. They said I should be expecting a call back by the end of the week for another interview í ½í¸€

Sorry for using "and" so much. I need to watch my run on sentences lol

I work for one of the big diaysis companies. Sounds like you will be shadowing correct?

Your manager already knows that you have limiting dialysis knowledge.

What they are looking for is someone that will mesh well with the team and the patients. They are going to ask the staff how they felt about you when you where on the floor.

So my bit of advise is to smile, be friendly, and ask questions when it seems like a downtime on the day.

My manager always says she would rather hire someone with limited experience and a great attitude than someone with lots of experience and a bad attitude.

Gotcha! Some people go in for interviews in scrubs when they really should have been wearing nice clothes to make a good impression. But if she told you to and it was for a reason then that makes more sense :)

I'm glad to hear things went well. I hope you get the job!!

Yes my interview and share day was a success. The tech I observed was like the "Big Mama" of all techs. Everyone from the patients, to the nurses, to the techs and even the two people interviewing me said she was hard to please and she was the one to tell if someone would make it there and they (as well as she) said I got her approval. The people interviewing me seemed to have like me. I had them laughing and when I asked them questions they would really have to sit back and think and take 5 - 10 minutes each to really answer my questions. They said that they wanted me on board but unfortunately the facility administrator who was supposed to originally interview me was not in and that he'll be giving me a call so he can interview me and give me the thumbs up as well.

Funny thing is, I also have applied to several DaVita locations as a PCT and have gotten responses from two of them. Seems like it'd be pretty cool! Just wondering if they'd be flexible with my school schedule.
