Davenport University

Hey Everyone,

Davenport University has as everyone knows changed there Associate Nursing program is to now a

BSN degree program! No problems there! I am however taking a Biostatistics class. Then I am taking a Chemistry class in the Warren Location.

As well do I need to have all my prerequisites finished to even apply in Febuary?

Does anyone know how hard the admission process is for the BSN program at Davenport?

How competitive is it? What type of GPA? Essay Style? Any tips to help out? What score does my TEAS

need to be?

How is the Davenport Nursing Program? Would your recommend it to others?

Anytips?

As well where are most of the clinical sites for the nursing program?

Thank you very much for your time, and I look forward to hearing your response.

 davenport never accepted me into their nursing program although, i transfered with the coursed i needed to get into their rn program. they told me that i was over qualified for their lpn program, beacuse i'm not a nurse already i couldn't get into the rn program. i was also told that i had to take twelve of their credits, take the hesi test and apply. i did as i was told. i got 4.0, did well on hesi test and applied to the lpn program; i was not accepted. i applied again the following year and was rejected then as well. when i asked what was wrong with my application i couldn't get any answers :o therefore, i felt like i waisted time and money at davenport. would i recommend that school to anyone yes, if they already have their rn. if the person is just starting out, no i would not :o

There are no prerequisites for the BSN program at Davenport Warren beyond the TEAS, an essay, two recommendations and a good GPA in math and science.

The material says you must carry a 3.0 but my guess is that since there are only limited seats in the program, the base will probably be somewhat higher.

AFAIK the program minimum for the TEAS is 66.7 but, as with everything else, you'll need to do as well as you can (I took it Saturday and got 82.4 which I am not at all sure will be enough).

Finally, I would be careful with the opinions of people who had bad experiences. There are always two sides to every story.

My own experience (I know a couple of RNs from the old AASN program) is that it is rigorous, thorough and an excellent preparation for licensing.

Maybe I'll see you around!

Hi,

Thank you for the information! So though did you apply

for your RN, or were you going for your BSN?

If you didnt mind me asking what was your GPA from transferring?

that is the plan! heck, i may even know you already.

the program is new so there won't actually be anyone in it until fall '10. until then theres the rn-bsn completion program, the aasn-rn program and the lpn licensure program.

i only know a couple people in one of these programs currently and i don't know them very well. but i know a couple grads from the aasn-rn program, one of them is my wife's close friend and our neighbor.

gentle tos reminder:

while it is important to be able to network, everyone should be mindful of the following:

  1. it is a small world - when we narrow it down to a state and throw in some personal info, there is actually a pretty good chance someone may recognize you if you are not careful. your privacy is paramount to us.
  2. while allnurses.com is a wonderful place to vent (without excess personally identifiable details) it is not the place to express why ("x" specific person, place or program) is terrible. gripe away, but since we cannot permit allegations to be made about named entities, your care in not naming them is very much appreciated.
  3. please do not give out personal information about others. do not name names where anyone could identify the person in any facility including your nursing programs.

I've submitted my application for fall 2010 into the BSN program and I will also submit for the LPN Program in May 2010 just in case. My TEAS score was not that high nut I have all classes completed with the exception of Bio statistics. I turned my application in on faith. I would like to wish everyone the best who has applied.

Hey Everyone,

I turned my in too! Let me know if you make it in!
