Hey Everyone, Man I have been trying to get on here, however I have been bogged with work and classes! Well I recieved my letter on Monday, and I was accepted :):) :clpty: :w00t: Such a relief, as I was really wanting to make into this program! As well the stressful anticipation and wait for the letter, had to take at least a couple years off! After being misled by Bakers program, I really felt Davenport gave me at least a hopeful chance! Hey Everyone, I have not been on here this week, so Hi. This wait has been very frustrating , as well I am soo nervous. I hope everyone makes it in the Nursing class. I spoke with my advisor today, and the final selections have been made. Thus the letters she told me, were sent out on Friday. I was reading everyone elses statements as well and it is amazing there are so many Baker College transfer students. While I have enjoyed the classes I took at Baker I felt that they were very misleading with their nursing application process information. However when transfering to Davenport University I have enjoyed the classes I am taking, as well I feel that they have been totally honest about the whole nursing application process. So now that letters have been sent out, I will be on the stakeout at the mailbox :). Hopefully I make it in, as then I can take the necessary Chemistry, and Math class I am already registered for this summer semester! Good Luck Everyone! Let us know if you make it in! Persphone

Hey Everyone, Good luck with your application process, and I am sure you will be hired! As well looking through everyones threads, it seems as though there is some confusion based on the proper etiquette of a thank you letter. I have attended many seminar workshops, and have worked in human resources for many years. I can attest that at my workplace, that email is the new thing to follow verses regular mail. Thus sending a professionally formated email based thank you letter, is completely acceptable. By the time it is sent in the mail with this job economy and the hospital mailing posts, many times thank you letters are received after the hiring process, which can harm you in the long run. The point of a thank you letter is to let the employer know that you enjoyed the experience, their time, and that you want to make yourself look like the best possible candidate. I have emailed all of my employers in the past after shadowing for possible jobs, and can say that it has given me the boost above other possible candidates! Hey You, Congratulations :) To come in and Shadow is one of the first steps! As showing the initiative to want to stay for a few extra hours gives you the extra point in wanting to stay with the unit and interest in the position. I work in the ER, and do 12 hour midnights.. Have to say it works perfect in school, and I love the midnight shift. I would say the next step would be to follow up with a thank you email to your interviewer, first thanking you for the interview, then the opportunity to shadow, as well reinterating your interest in the available position! Hey Everyone! OMG this wait is taking forever! I guess that it gives me time to try and hope for the best.. My GPA was high though, and I have confirmed my classes, however if I am not accepted then I wont of course be taking the classes.. I hope that I am, as I have worked soo hard, and feel that my recommedation letters were of top notch people I work with. A MD, and Charge Nurse.. Well needless to say, I am going to need a ciggarrette this week, or a huge coffee as the anticipation is getting a bit much! Hopefully everyone makes it :) :).. To answer everyones questions I know the recommendation letters weighed in heavily with decisions along with your personal essay! Well everyone let me know how it goes! Take Care, Persephone
