Dansko "dress code" at your place of work

Nurses General Nursing

I am entering my last year of nursing school and am wanting to purchase a pair of Danskos-heard a lot of good things about them. We will have two 12-hour clinicals a week so I'm trying to prepare. I've seen a few nurses with the printed clogs (some are patent leather and they are stylish yet easy to clean when something spills).

The facility I am currently doing clinicals at has no problem with shoes that are not white, but I am sure that is not the norm...or is it? Should I get the plain white danskos or buy the ones I like?

Thanks nurses

The days of the white nursing shoes are long gone.

Not everywhere, a local hospital requires their nurses to wear ALL white, including the shoes.

Shoe policies vary based on hospital. First make sure whatever you want follows your school's rules. Then honestly, as much as I hate white shoes, it would be VERY rare for a hospital to not allow white shoes, so if I wanted to be sure to get a few years out of my shoes, and didn't know exactly where I would be, I'd go with white.

Get the ones you like. hospitals requiring plain white shoes are few and far between these days, but if you happen to land a job in one you can always wear the stylish danskos on your day off!

Wait until you get a job, then buy what you like that conforms to their policy.

There was a company schism, and Dansko is not Dansko, lol. Sanita is the new name of the original company after having been screwed out of the rights to their own name.

It's been a few years. If you want your Danskos to be like the ones you had pre-2008, then get Sanitas. I like them both equally.

I just got my first pair of danskos for nursing school, and they are incredibly comfy. I had to order them and in the store I had a thicker pair of socks on, and then when I tried them on today I had a really thin pair of socks on.

So question:

What socks do you wear with dankso's?

Good question! A thick pair for sure. One with reinforced, padded toe toe is best. (Champion socks work great for me.)

I have several different types of socks depending on which shoe I wear, and when I make this mistake of wearing my thin, cool, wicking bamboo socks with Danskos I can almost rub a hole in the toe of my sock! I don't know if it's me or not, but wearing thick socks prevents this and is more comfy overall. Danskos aren't known for being the most cushy shoe, but they're great for posture!

My new supervisor position requires business dress and a. Scrub jacket. Do any of you also wear your danskos?
