Hi everyone. This is my first post & I'm glad that this forum is available. Everyone here has saved me so much time on research. I'm starting the June 23, 2008 Platt LVN class & I can't wait to start this new career. After getting some grant money, I don't mind all the taxes I used to pay LOL. Let me know if I have any classmates on here. Also, keep providing the great information. Thanks.
So how is the first week going ? all is well on this end !

My lord there is alot of reading ....I would never have guessed ! that and vocab I feel like Im always studying ( could be because I am lol...Im holding on to that A but if I could cut down Id take that B lol jk . I do love it ...Is your school still planning on offering the bridge program ?? Are things still upside down ?? How long do you have left ? What school is that? I may be moving to the DFW area and thinking of Dallas Nursing Institute. Seems like a nice school.
Just thought i would stop in and see how things are going ....Are things still going ok ?
I hope all is well with you. Everything is going good with me. How do you find our thread? I'm subscribed so when you "posted" it notified me via e-mail so I could respond. I guess I could keep the link in my e-mail. School is getting crazy with the amount of reading & test but I have seen early that I can make. We have a quiz or test at lest every other day. The part that is the challenge is that we are working 4 different class's & skill lab at the same time so you must organize your reading. Like right now I really want to work on some math but I know I have a fundementals test tuesday. I have a A average in every class except fundementals but I will bring it up. I'm just really, really glad to be in this program. Let me tell you that it's only been 3 weeks but the class drama is starting. To many grown women LOL. I'm just watching from a distance thinking this is to important to be childish. Hey, has your class lost any students yet? A lady quit Thursday. She said it was to stressful. From day one though she didn't seem serious enough(tardy, skipping test so she could ask us about the questions the next day, etc) but I still feel bad for her. With everything moving so quickly with working 37 hrs weekly & school I may only post weekly but stay postive & talk to you soon.:)
Glad you are thinking about bridging because that's my plan as soon as I graduate in Oct. 2009. It's good to know that I may have your encouragement for an extra year. Bye.

I also get an e-mail when someone post here I like that it keeps me up to date. Like you we have a quiz or exam everyday to every other day and a ton of reading !! Along with vocab and math ....seems to be the norm for lvn school. I stay out of any and all drama lol.
...My focus is on what needs to be done to get me thru this year. We have lost three students...I believe two of them went to the part time program . When we miss a quiz or exam they give us a complete different test which we have been told is much harder :uhoh21: I hope to never find out ha ha . (Even the students agree that it is harder) Like you I am only on line on the weekends :typing....Well I do check my email ...gotta have a break for a couple of minutes ! Congrats on that A average :yeah:Good luck this week and we will catch up next weekend ! Try not to go crazy
yes I'm at DNI. don't do it!
Matthew, every school has drama and cliques and more drama. just try to stay out of it and don't let it bother you. I know it's hard, BELIEVE ME! but grown women can be tough to deal with! sometimes I think the girls in my class think that they are the only ones; they must be catered to. it can get a bit ridiculous. I just have to remind myself that I only have 6 months left, and God willing, I will keep my mouth shut! haha
Well, my 1st week is over & I feel weird. It's almost dreamy for me. I'm finally getting started. What's also weird is that I don't have a medical background & now we're talking about codes & care plans. We had a 20 question pop quiz on wed. & a short test today so everybody's ready to see where we stand so far. The work is starting to pick up also because we started math today. Therefore, I have tests in 3 different subjects next week. Sorry if my thoughts are all over the place. I've got so many nursing thoughts going on. I talked to our placement lady about where I might work once I graduate(should've thought about this before I enrolled, LOL) and she named off a few rehab hospitals & nursing homes. She said they pay $17-22 FYI. Have you had any difficult assignments yet? How long before you start clinicals? Do you work also? I do & my classmates have it made that don't need to. Congrats on us making it through the 1st week, LOL. Time to get some sleep. Talk to you later.
Just thought I would stop in and see how things are going for you ....I sure hope all is well and if you have a minute drop a line here and fill us in !!
As for myself all is well, busy but good. A&P is over, clinlcals start soon, everything is moving right along
Hi,
Glad all is well. Same here. The reality has set in that this will be going on for a while so kinda been quiet letting some time pass. I'm really looking forward to clinical in Oct. Finally, some hands on. School is all that I expected it to be. I'm grateful EVERYDAY. Let me know how your week goes. Thanks for checking on me.
Glad to hear all is well . We have finals this week and we are all nervous ! I cant believe the first level is almost over, one more week. We get a week off in between levels and I so planning on relaxing:onbch:
I hear that the next level is busy as ever with three new classes and clinicals but hey it will be worth it in the long run. Now of course I wont be able to relax the whole week (already work to do for next level ) but I will for a couple of days ! All in all first level went by fast and I learned alot.( with the help of some really good instructors ) I would do it all over again if I had to but am grateful that I dont ha ha . well keep in touch and let me know how clinicals go ...by the way where do you all do your clinical sites at ?
Wow, a whole week off. Y'all get treated better. LOL. Labor day was our 1st day off & we still had to make it up on Friday. Everyone is so waiting on Christmas week to get a real break. Yeah the finals are scary in thought but we are prepared from the many daily quiz's & tests. Not sure why our finals aren't spread out by a few days or something. I have them back to back in late Sept. Have any of your teachers quit? Good thing I deal with change easily. It' crazy but I was so excited on Thursday just because we got measured for our scrubs. I'm so ready for clinical. Class only 2 days then clinical the other 2. Plus I get to see nursing hands on. I'm told that the 1st semester was the boot camp & that these upcoming class's are just maintaining because now we are in shape with a sharp brain if that makes any sense. We start clinical in a nursing home but I forget the names expect for Treemont but I'll let you know later. The only hospital we use is RHD. Everything else are Ltac's,clinic's,nursing home's,Dr. office, etc. Enjoy the day.
