Hi everyone. This is my first post & I'm glad that this forum is available. Everyone here has saved me so much time on research. I'm starting the June 23, 2008 Platt LVN class & I can't wait to start this new career. After getting some grant money, I don't mind all the taxes I used to pay LOL. Let me know if I have any classmates on here. Also, keep providing the great information. Thanks.:yeah:

Well I made it through the first level ! I know what you mean about finals we as well had all of ours all at once but I did survive and so will you ! We will both get the prize in the end...... No we did not have any instructors quit they were wonderful ! We did have one student quit and one go to the part time program because of family reasons . Scrubs .......we have had to wear ours from day one, there are days I long for sweats or jeans lol . I am enjoying my week off but it is filled with drug cards.....NOT my most favorite past time ha ha but its all good. I start clinicals next wednesday ,I will let you know how things go. Good luck on your finals, I am sure you will kick tail !

Congrats on making it through. What a week but now I can join your ranks as a sophomore student. My instructor says that was the hardest part but we'll see. I start clinical on Monday from 2-PM. I'm excited. Finally some hands on. Time for some med-surge.,nutrition,etc. Lets keep making it happen.

yes !!!!!! :up: I knew you would do it ! clinicals are great but grei is not my favorite .....its all good we also do mental heath clinicals this level that im looking forward to . Are you in a hospital this level or a ltc place? Either way you will love it after the first week or so lol Let the fun begin ....keep me posted ok ? I want to know how ur first week at clinicals go :nuke:

Thanks for the support. What I know so far is that we do our next 8 wks at a 2 different nursing homes. 1 of them also has a rehab center connected. I will review my skills book some because trach care,etc was easy on the mannequin but I want to feel confident when working live. Geriatric is where I want to specialize. Now the mental health portion scares me. What have the mental health patients been like? Are you ever left alone with them? I will keep you posted for sure. Enjoy your weekend.

Well, this is my 4th week at clinicals. I'm neutral on the nursing home experience. We are just getting used to the patients and not doing anything past cna level. It boring but they say they have a method to the madness. Now the classwork is a different subject. Just passed the Gero. course but now our 1st med surg & pharm. test is this week and it will be interesting. Fluids and electrolytes are hard to grasp in a week to me but we'll see. I hope your clinical experience is as expected. What courses are you currently in? We pick up nutrition next week. I'm so happy for the upcoming holidays to get a small break. Also, we took part of the hesi last week to see how we are retaining info. did really good compared to my class but i see lots of room for improvement. Keep going stong for we are living a dream come true.

Things are going very well .....I have one day of class left and one more clinical day left then we are off till Jan !!!!!!!!!!!! I am soooo ready for a much needed break lol ( minus the tons of hw they always seem to find for us ) My clinical site was really nice learned alot did alot ....lets see..gave meds, shots,a few to many blood sugars lol . put in caths did wound care and trach care once . needless to say adls are always there ha ha and if I never see another care plan well that is fine ! Jk . As far as class goes just finished Pharm and mental health .

After the holidays its med surge 1 , IV therapy, and OB Plus a new clinical site which I am hoping to be a hospital ..will know tomorrow . As far as along way to go that is no lie always something new to learn .
