Dallas Nursing Institute Spring 2017

Anyone here attending DNI in 2016 or 2017?

I am going to take the HESI on March 21st! If all goes well I will be starting the evening LVN program on April 10th. Excited and nervous! Which program are you going to be attending?

ms.gina did you start on April 10?

I did. I am in my 3rd week. It has been interesting. There are some good and some bad things about the place. It is what best suits my needs with no other choice but to work full time so I am going to ignore the extra and try to stay focused!

Oh cool. how is it going?

How are you liking it so far? I know the reputation of the school (or how it used to be seen), but I don't have the option to go to school full time during the day, and there are ZERO night programs in Dallas. I've been considering this program just to get my foot in the door, find a job in the evenings and then do a bridge program somewhere.

I completely understand why you are considering the program. The convenience of the part time evening schedule is the reason I am there. The program definitely has its issues & could be improved. I don't regret enrolling in the program simply b/c the schedule is what works with my life. At the end of the day I'm not going to let the negatives deter me from my end goal. I did my research & read a lot of bad reviews about the school. I can not say they were all lies but keep in mind a lot of the reviews were probably written by some bitter former students that couldn't hack it & were dropped for failing. You definitely have to study a lot & it is not handed to you. You have to be self motivated for sure! You are expected to do the same amount of work as the full time student so no, it is not easy. There are some awesome instructors & there are some that shouldn't be teaching. I've had a mix of both. I look at it as a temporary situation to get where I want to be & try not to let the bad ones have an effect on me. Easier said than done at times. If you know what you want then I say go for it & don't let anyone stop you! The school is not that bad but it's not great. I'm sure this isn't the most helpful of information & I apologize for that but hopefully it will give you a realistic perspective. I'd love to know what you decide, keep me posted! Let me know if you have any specific questions about the program or if I can help you!

Can you tell me how the panels interview went? Just passed my hesi and waiting for the panel interview?

Congratulations on passing your HESI! I did not have a panel review. I wouldn't be too worried about it if I were you. If you qualify for loans to pay then it is pretty much a guarantee you will be granted admission. This is a for profit school & I have yet to hear of anyone being turned away. Good luck & let me know if you have any other questions.

Hello guys I am considering going to DNi this spring and been trying to do research on this school for the longest. I want to attend the lvn part time program only because it works with my schedule for the moment being but I do plan to continue to bridge over to the RN program once finished. How is the school overall? The classes? The instructors? Is it worth giving it a try?

You will be better off putting your time, effort & money into an education at a community college or another reputable institution.

Really why do you say that? Is there a particular reason why? I looked at the graduation and NCLEX passing rates and they seem to be pretty average or in the low 70s
