Dallas Nursing Institute ADN cost?

Published

Does anyone know what the cost of the new ADN program at Dallas Nursing Institute is? Is there much of a waitlist?

I know it's new too but is anyone doing it now? How is it going?

I just don't know if I can wait around for the waiting lists and such for the local community colleges.

If you are already an LVN, I believe the tuition is $26,000.

I went in to talk to someone at the school yesterday and it is $600 a credit hour.

For the Full ADN program it's 69 hours. 21 of those hours are prerequisites. 10 more of those hours can be taken at another school and transferred.

For the ADN Bridge it's 61 hours with the same 21 prerequisites and 10 transfer hours.

If you're an LVN you probably have all the prereqs.

PreReqs:

BIOL 2401 A&P

BIOL 2402 A&P

ENGL 1301 COMP I

PSCY 2301 Intro to Psych

PSYC 2314 Lifespan Growth and Dev.

BIOL 2420 Microbiology

That means for the full program minus classes you will/can take elsewhere it will cost $22,800.

The ADN Bridge will cost $18,000.

Their application deadlines are Sept 7 and Jan 18.

Wow. That cost is crazy high. Do any of the credits earned transfer over to university level when/if you want to pursue a BSN or higher??

No, the credits are not transferable.

Let me edit my previous statement...

For the purpose of returning to school to earn a BSN degree later on, the credits earned at Dallas Nursing Institute will transfer only to other for-profit entities that offer RN-to-BSN completer programs such as University of Phoenix, Grand Canyon University, etc.

Question for The Commuter...

So if I decided to get my ADN from Dni and decided to go back for my BSN thru a RN-BSN program at a school such as UTA or TWU I couldn't? I thought you just need your RN License and pre-req for that program.

You will also need more than 120 college credits by the time you graduate from any BSN completer program. Since the credits from DNI will not transfer, you will fall short of the 120 credit hours unless you've earned a previous degree from some other community college or university.

Also, while the RN-to-BSN programs at TWU and UTA do not seem to have the following requirement, most programs that I have looked at require that the person graduated from a nationally accredited nursing program (NLN or CCNE).

So they are not even CCNE accredited at this time? That is too bad. My current school in California has a CCNE and is working on their WASC. I will have to contact the school directly to see if they will take my transfer credits of all my pre-reqs. It is a two year program once your pre-reqs are done?

The CCNE does not accredit two-year associate degree programs. The CCNE will only accredit BSN, MSN, APN, and doctoral degree nursing programs. Since Dallas Nursing Institute is an associate degree program, it would make sense that the CCNE would not accredit their school of nursing.

Additionally, your current school in California has a major drawback, which is the substantial tuition. West Coast University has a staggering tuition of $132,000 for someone who has not completed any prerequisites. Even if someone received a significant discount for having completed their prerequisite classes at a community college, the price tag still is not worth it to me in today's economy.

I think I was unclear in my post - I apologize. My husband might be taking a job in Plano Texas and it might be necessary for me to move with him in the middle of my nursing program. I was not referring to the staggering tuition (which I am not paying that much for the record due to when I started and what I transferred in), but am curious to learn more about DNI.

I am a 42 year old woman, and have spent the last year working on Biochem, micro, patho, anatomy, physio etc.

Thank you so much for any insight into DNI that you can provide.

Best,

Dawn

So if I understand you correctly you may only transfer 10 credits? How long is the program?
