Dallas Area - When do applications open for new grads?

U.S.A. Texas

Published

Hello, I am going to school in Galveston right now, so I don't get to hear much about the Dallas hospitals. I am hoping to move back to the Dallas area after I graduate. Does anyone know when or about when applications for new grads open for the following hospitals?

· Children's Medical Center Dallas

· Baylor University Medical Center

· UT Southwestern Medical Center

· Parkland Memorial Hospital

· Medical City Dallas

· Texas Health Presbyterian

Parkland has some Nurse Resident positions post now. Go have a look at Parkland careers.

Specializes in NICU.

Applications for internships start opening about 5 months before.

Baylor and UTSW are the first to open, and internal TH candidates. (For example, the Jan/Feb. 2015 cycle applications opened in September 2014. I think they have opened up now for July 2015.)

A few weeks later TH will open what's left to the public, and the HCA hospitals will open as well (Medical City).

Children's is pretty specific and should have a date on their website when your application packet is due. Parkland usually opens last, about 2-3 months before.

There is also Methodist Dallas that takes new grads.

I suggest making an account on each system's job/career site and uploading all of your information. That way, you can apply faster since they don't stay posted for long. Check at least every other day and sign up for email alerts if the site offers.

And I know Texas Health, Parkland, and HCA usually offer October internship cycles in case you miss out for July. Good luck!

Anyone happen to know if Methodist is a paid internship?
All of the new grad RN internships in the D/FW area are paid, as far as I know. I have not heard of any unpaid internships in this area.

I know of unpaid (or low-paying) new grad nursing internships in other parts of the country, but I do not believe the trend has reached D/FW yet.

Methodist IS a paid internship. They should open late March or April.

Great! Thank you guys so much. I actually got an interview for Methodist and just wanted to be sure before I agreed to the interview!

Can someone tell me HOW to begin applying for a nurse internship at Baylor University Medical Center. I cant find any applications online, or much information about them at all.
