Cypress College Fall 2011

Published

Hey everyone, I just wanted to start this thread in case some students who are beginning the nursing program at Cypress College (CA) this fall wanted to get to know one another. I applied Fall 2010 and was an alternate this Spring 2011. I've already done my background check, TEAS test and the medical check-up so if anyone has questions regarding these I'd be happy to help :)

Hope to hear from some of you!

Just curious, is there any flexibilty with the lab and clinical days or are the days pretty much set?

Um, cypress college clinic does a physical for 75 bucks i think, and includes the flu shot and hep B. I thought it was a decent price if you dont have insurance.

As for the A, its certainly doable. Some people adapt better to test taking in nursing better than others, but i can say that around 25 to 30% of the class had As...our class avg was a B. Ive heard it gets way harder second semester on, so ill be the guinea pig and let you guys know haha!

As for the lab, its a prescheduled thing thats on your calendar and cannot be changed. Clinical wise, you have a choice between twice a week or once a week. I did the once a week one, and while super tiring, you get a 4 day weekend!

Thanks, are the labs scheduled on the days of lecture or on the same days as clinicals?

Thanks guava turtle.. i might just buy second hand books to save some money..

when you have clinicals, it's just going to be clinicals. You're gonna be at the hospital at 630 am, and I would puke if I had to do a lab afterwards!

As for books, you use the same books throughout the program.

oh ok.. nevermind then.. ill just purchase the nursing books on amazon or if not at the bookstore..

i recommend amazon. Bookstore is a rip off.

ok thanks for the advice..

i actually went and got the amazon credit card..it gives you an automatic 3% back. I spent about 600 bucks on the books, so I got a little less than 20 bucks back. Still money!

how did you apply for an amazon credit card? i wanna do that too.. As for the school supplies? did you purchase the stethoscope at the campus or the NSNA or u can buy it anywhere?

I just bought my steth on amazon too lol, it's got everything and the prices are quite decent. As for the credit card, I forget, but on the amazon site there are links that can get you to the credit card application =)

alright thanks for the information.. im so glad im getting advices from nursing students who are ahead of me. =))
