Current Mt. SAC students- Orientation info

Published

hey current mt. sac students!

i just received my letter last week and will be starting the rn program this fall. i am so excited and nervous at the same time, but am sure glad the wait is over. i am wondering if some of you can give me some info on what to expect during orientation and if there is anything i should do to prepare for it. i have already taken the hesi and passed so i won't need to take it during orientation, but that leaves me wondering what else is going to happen during the 4 days. can you also let me know if you think there is anything i should do before the fall semester begins to be more prepared? or should i just enjoy my time off and relax since i most likey won't get to when i start?

oh, one more thing. do clinicals start your first semester, or later?

thanks so much!

:yeah: ahhhhhh! i am so happy that i found you!!! i just posted a thread about Mt. Sac students-i feel so alone, i don't know anyone else that is starting this Fall. I too just got my letter/invitation/acceptance this pass week and i have sent my acceptance back a few days ago. How long have you've been done with your pre-reqs? i've been done with them since '05' i would be working as a nurse already but we moved from San Diego about two years ago and i had to start all over again. i am so excited about starting, i've waited so long. i am trying not to get into all this stuff about no jobs out there, i am going to work really hard.

I kept close to all that is happening @ mt. sac, i would call regularly. Hey they told me that of course all the classes are arranged but our registration date will determine what hospital we will get, whether it is Fullerton or L.A. Children's Hospital, or Colton and so forth, exciting! huh? I did all my pre-reqs @ Chaffey college and a college up north, so my registration time is usually a little later than most, i took 1 math course this Spring but decided to withdraw early(the teacher was horrible, well just set in his ways). someone had said on here something about 300 pgs of reading the first week and a a bunch of equations for pharmocology. i have a little of a heads up on pharm, i've been devouring a pharmacology book(demystified pharmacology) it has been great, i feel really good about it. see so when i start i won't have to study it as much, you know more work to do, so i am happy about that! i still have a few chapts to go.

you know what i was wondering about is what about our CPR we need it, it's up to us to get it on our own. i was thinking about rather than waiting for them to say just go and get it. there are some saturday courses all day that offer it(red cross and a few others).

have you looked at our schedule yet? it will be close to this semester's schedule so if you want an idea of the hours in lecture and at hospital, you can look at the schedule. it's like mon/wed in lecture and tues/thurs @ hospital. i thought to myself wow i can't believe we're in hospital already!!! eeesh!

well i'm hoping you will reply, i am so happy i found someone! ;)
