Nursing Students LPN-RN

Current LPN-RN students, do you still work? If so what types of hours? Which shifts? Anyone do home health? I am drowning doing these 12 hour 6p-6a shifts Fri and Sat and school/clinicals Mon-Fri 0715-1530. Trying to get some other ideas, I think I am over night shift.

Yes I am currently a LPN-RN student and I work 3/5ths 8hr shifts 11-7am, over night shift is difficult for me, no sleep, I can’t study!

Have you tried maybe a on-call or per diem position?

Tell your employer you can’t tolerate the 12 hr shifts any longer. If they can’t/won’t accommodate you, cut out one of the shifts or find another case with another agency, if need be, that is only 8 hrs. Enough is enough. The employer won’t be there for you if something bad happens because you are overdoing it. And they will put the responsibility on you alone.

I am currently an LPN going back to school for my RN this fall. Obviously I haven’t started it yet but I don’t plan to be working much while in school. I picked up a casual position where I’m shooting to pick up 8-12 hours a week. Otherwise I’ll be depending on student loans to survive otherwise.

I work 8hr shifts, 3days a week, 11-7am

I work 2 8 hour shifts, Friday Saturday 2:30-11PM. I am only in the transitional summer class at the moment, so the work load is not horrendous yet.

I take classes at night and on the weekends. I work Tues-Fri, 10 hr shifts. I am lucky as my employer 100% completely supports us going further in our career. She is a CNM and a fabulous supervisor.

Try talking to your supervisor.
