Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

Published

And how many hours do you work!?

I really want to start pre-reqs in January. So if I do so, I will be working about 30+ hours a week taking morning classes! I am an infant "teacher" in a daycare/preschool center:D.

Also, does anyone have any other degrees other than working on our ADN, BSN's, LVN etc. etc.

Specializes in Pediatrics, Community Health.

I work 40 hours a week at a health department where I assist with implementing/maintaining chronic disease prevention programs in the community. I started my pre-reqs in September 2008 and took 1 class a quarter, either at night or online. In about a week I will be finished with my last pre-req and will be attending nursing school in the Spring!

I have a BS in Biology and an MPH with a concentration in Community Health & Prevention.

I work at my college's Clincal Nursing Lab (where skills are taught and practiced) as a Student Worker/Lab Assistant. I work 12 or so hours a week and even though the pay isn't great (a little better than minimum wage) they don't take taxes out and I get the oppurtunity to work and teach other nursing students, practice skills on my own time, and work with faculty that will be my professors soon! It is great to get my name out there and familiarize myself with everything, plus my boss is going to be a great reference for jobs when I graduate :)

I am a scrub tech in labor and delivery about 20 hours a week. I also have 3 kids and go to school full time.

I will be taking my last 2 prereqs/reqs for the program in the spring...both online while working full time in my university technology position. I have a BA, MAT and MEd. Would like to cut back to part time after starting nursing (hopefully in Fall 2010) so that my hubby and son don't get neglected.

This is good im looking for a job nowand I'll be starting school is Jan Also.. I have to take my TEAS soon and is kinda scared! But looking at yall hours i can kind of get and idea of what im looking for.

I graduate this June from a ADN program. I work 16 hours a week as a home health aide. The pay sucks but I love working with my 2 patients, I have been caring for them for a year now. The biggest advice I can give to you as a pre-nursing student is work as much as you can handle now and save up some money. Once you start into nursing it's better to not work if possible. I only work 16 hours a week and to me that is a lot to handle right now.

Specializes in Stepdown.

I work 30 hours a week at a small little produce market. It's very doable as long as you allot time to study. My life is basically, work, study, class. A very small portion is social life. I'm currently have a 4.0 in my pre-reqs(Taking Chem, A&P1, and Dev Psych) I'm taking micro, A&P2, and Biochem next semester. Wish me luck!

I started my pre-req's while my husband was deployed (military) and my daughter was only 3 months old. New state, dont know anyone, but I managed. I did a few classes online until my mother in law moved in with us, so she helps with watching the baby while I go to school at night and daddy is gone (he is gone A LOT). I am just finishing up A&P, but Im also taking some of the other "easier" pre-reqs online with it, and do some volunteer work for red cross and the local hospital. Its a lot of late nights and no sleep, but this is my passion so I keep on rolling. It will all be worth it in the end :)
