Curious - Has Anyone Applied to UHV / Sugarland / Katy?

Published

Hello everybody,

I see so many people on the forum discussing all the Nursing schools except UHV and I'm wondering...has ANYONE else, besides me, applied to UHV / Sugarland / Katy? I know they just received their accreditation and folks may be skeptical but I'd love to chat with anyone who has applied...I feel lonely. LOL.

Also, if you haven't applied, would you mind sharing why?

I'm still going to apply to UT's Bacc2 program but I applied to UHV because they start in the Spring as opposed to the Summer and I want to finish a BSN as soon as possible.

Thanks for listening and good luck to everyone in getting accepted and/or beginning their programs in their respective schools. It's an exciting time.

Pwr,

JSanz is absolutely correct :) The dean also mentioned to me and a few other students in line for discrepancies that its no longer about our gradeswhen they make their picks, but rather our writing sample that we did there.

JSanz,

I'm sorry I didn't get to say bye to you! :( we were all over the place towards the end and when I finished I saw your car was gone. It was great meeting you for breakfast and hopefully we can keep in touch!

Good luck to all of us!

Babush,

I'm sorry we didn't respond to you! We got caught up with pwr's posts. Lol.

How did you like the interview session? What are your thoughts/concerns? Have you heard any other info than the ones we've discussed already?

Hi Everyone,

I'm very anxious to find out if we all will be accepted. I actually sat at the table behind you guys but I was in the green group. I didn't know that they would be meeting that afternoon but I thought since it was only 77 of us it shouldn't take that long to read the papers. Personally, I didn't expect the actual interview process to go as it did but in way I thought it was cool because it gave us a chance to think out our answers.I don't see how they would pick us just based on that. The question could have been a better one. What do you think the numbers on our badges meant? We weren't in alphabetical order.I wondered if it was some type of ranking?

Everything went smooth but the discrepancies line did take a while to get through.I also found it strange to see a few people dressed as they were.I saw a few pair of jeans and other things I thought people would leave behind for any interview.LOL. But I thought all of the faculty and staff were very polite and laid back.

What are your thoughts?

Cant wait to see what happens. Good luck to us all.

bronslady,

i'm curious, how did you know where we were sitting?!? haha!

yeah, the interview was incredibly different but like you, i think it was pretty interesting.

also, what numbers on the badges are you referring to? the only number i remember being on our badges were the seat numbers we were assigned when we went to do the essay in the computer lab.

i'm going to try and call on friday morning because i really need to know if i got in as soon as possible. i need to be able to give my supervisor ample time to look for a replacement if i get accepted and since christmas is rolling around, there isn't much time left.

anyway, good luck to you and to us all!! :)

Hahaha...I kind of guessed who u guys were b/c u were the first ppl there when I got there and I guessed you were early b/c u came from IHOP.Then the young lady in the gray pants was in my group and I over heard her telling a guy at the table that Kstar was sitting next to her.I didn't catch their names but I know both were on these posts.

The numbers weren't just for our seat assignments. When I went to get sized and to resolve my discrepancies both ladies asked for my number as opposed to my name.I thought we would just be in ABC order but I guess not.

I think I did well on my essay.I just want to know ASAP!!!

Please post when anyone finds out so I can be on the look out for my notification.

Can't wait!!!!Hopefully it's b4 the 15th.

Hey KStar....sorry I didn't get a chance to say goodbye. After I got out of discrepancies, I left. It was great meeting you guys and thank for meeting up for breakfast.

Bronslady...you are very perceptive. I wish we could have met you too! I was a bundle of nerves and it helped being able to meet up and chat with others who knows what it feels like to go through this process, especially since we didn't know what to expect.

I have to say, I really like the administration and advisors. They were so laid back and went out of their way to ease the tension. I wish I would have had the opportunity to meet the instructors. I've heard it said by nurses that instructors 'eat their young' and I've heard horror stories about instructors being so tough that half the class fails. I'm hoping that's not the case here. I should have written about that in our interview. LOL.

About the numbers on our badges, my husband was wondering the same thing and asked me what the numbers meant. They certainly were not in alphabetical order so I'm a bit confused by that. If it simply meant a seating order, I would think they would have simply taken all the candidates in alpha order and assign them a number based on that. Nevertheless, what's done is done. Now the waiting begins.

Good luck everyone and hope to meet you soon Bronslady.

Ok I saw someone on another thread state that he called the UV, and was told that they were sending out acceptance letters hopefully today but for sure tomorrow. He then asked if he was the only one who didn't receive one yet.

I have to ask the same thing, or will someone please post as soon as they get their acceptance letter?

pwr,

please refer to the post i put on the other UHV thread. no one received anything yet.

and this is for everyone: is there any way we can consolidate the posts from both UHV threads into one? does anyone know? it'd probably be more convenient to just have one thread rather than jumping back and forth.

To address pwr's comment, yes I spoke with the advisor today and she seemed quite positive that the notifications would be sent out by friday. I'm more nervous than I thought I would have been if we had a regular interview format, at least that way I could feel like my destiny was in my own hands. I would have really like to have had some face time in order to stand out....I'd feel terrible being eliminated due to a short essay or by number. I'm trying to be positive, but I have put my all into this. All we can do is keep positive...GOOD LUCK TO ALL! PLEASE POST IF YOU GET ACCEPTED.

sounds like a good idea. why don't you head it up...start a thread with "UHV ACCEPTANCE LETTER" in the title.

Hi everyone,

There was another poster on here that asked about the numbers on our badges. I felt pretty confident that those numbers were merely for seating arrangements or whatever, but she thinks it may have served another purpose, possible a ranking system? I wanted to ask Ms. Whatley earlier this afternoon but it completely slipped my mind. Does any one else know what those numbers might have meant or are we just overanalyzing? lol!

Good luck to all of us :) oh! and keep warm! it's supposed to snow tomorrow. LOL!

OK...I might as well post seeing as I'm attempting to get to 10 posts.

I noticed that many of the applicants of whom are on this board were also in my group at the interview...meaning that most on here have good stats as far as grades and such...so therefore we were all in the same number range...hopefully meaning we were high on the candidate list.
