I'm applying as well. I'm taking the entrance exam this Friday. I'm hoping to do well since all they look at is that and my GPA.
Did you apply anywhere else?

Good luck! I was so bummed to see my GPA come down in the nursing CAS. To think that my classes from 1991 are still being counted is irksome, to say the least. And yes, now the pressure is on for this entrance exam!
I only applied to Hunter because of $ and the pre reqs I have completed...you?

I'm applying to the generic program not the accelerated. I'm nervous as it is and started a thread for generic but haven't gotten any responses, which makes me even more nervous.
My GPA also decreased after NursingCAS calculations, but not by a lot so I guess I shouldn't complain. I took the NLN-RN PAX on 12/10/2011. I had studied for a while in advance so felt pretty good about it. How did the exam go for you guys?
I just took my exam at Hunter. It went well. It was computerized (which I was not expecting), so I already got my results. It's nice not having to wait. I don't think we'll hear anything from Hunter until April or May unfortunately. Just have to play the waiting game.
I applied to Stony Brook too. They are also very inexpensive. The program is actually shorter (12 months), so they're my first choice, but I'll see what happens.
Good luck to you guys!
Hey Jennyfur1234,
Glad to hear it went well for you. Any surprises on the exam? I heard there was more physics than in the review book. Btw, a friend already found out she did not get into Stonybrook so if you have not heard anything that may be a good sign. And just to clarfiy: you were given a composite score as well as percentages in each category, correct?
The science part of the exam did have a lot more physics than I thought there would be. I feel like what they went over in the book wasn't representative of what was on the exam but I guess I'm a good guessed. I wonder how similar the exams are each time they are offered. I got a composite score that's out of 200 and I have no idea how they calculate that. Then they gave me the percent I got right in each section along with my percentile in each section. When do you take your exam??
Monday. I feel like a score over 150 is going to make for a "comfortable" wait until results come in. Have you heard any differently?
There's a thread from last year that I was looking at this morning (I'm hibernating from the snow!) They basically interview the top 50 applicants and then accept 32? The scores of people who were interviewed were 150, 142, 145 (that's all that posted them). Someone said they went to an info session and for the previous year the average score was 140 for the accelerated program. And someone with a 129 did not get an interview. GPAs were all over the place. Hope that's helpful.
It definitely sounds like scoring 150 would make for a comfortable wait and as long as your GPA is decent, you'll get an interview.
If you don't mind my asking, what did you get on the NLN? I got a 149.
I somehow got a 162. I took it two years ago when I was thinking about going to nursing school and got a 148, so when I saw this I thought they messed up.
