Cumberland University Mt. Juliet campus - adult night & weekends

Published

Hello,

If anyone has any questions about this program, please feel free to ask me. I'm finishing the 4th semester out of the 5, so I have an understanding of the program. Whether its a "big" or "small" question, ask away, and I'll do my best to answer.

This program is relatively new compared to other nursing programs, so there just simply isn't a lot of information online about it. When I was researching BSN schools, I was a little frustrated due to the lack of info. I just want to be a resource for anyone in a similar position. Please feel free to ask me any questions in the thread or through PM. It would probably be best to ask in the thread, so others can see. Thanks

Journey2Nursing1 are you going to register today? I am debating on going at my scheduled time today since I didn't reply back with my phone number until getting back in town late last night....

Yes. I have to be there at 3:20

I changed my registration time to 8:20 and I was the first person there. I should have asked how many people were in our cohort. Did they tell you guys when labs were going to be? They weren't sure when I was there this morning. I need to start making work arrangements.

If im not mistaken...lab/clinicals will be Friday Saturday or Sunday. Depending on the assignment.

The lady at step one "thought" they were going to be Thirsday night and Saturday morning but she wasn't sure and didn't know the times.

@ CU_Hopeful(now CU_Baller) How many hours a week do you plan to work while in the program? Did they talk to you about your work schedule and offer any advice, or was it just a meet and greet?

Congrats again!

Seems like we won't know anything for sure until the 24.

Did you buy any of the things needed from the bookstore yesterday? Also were you provided with an ID clip? I saw that I was supposed to get one but didn't know where to get it from.

@BSNtoMSN1987 I work 12 hours shifts 2 days one week and 3 the next week and I have no idea how I am going to do everything. I also am a single mom homeschooling a now 1st grader. I plan to just drown the next year and a half. lol. Hopefully, I can take one day of vacation on my 3 day weeks so that I'm just two days each week.

@Journey2Nursing1 I didn't get a ID clip or pick up anything from the bookstore. I asked Andrea about textbook and she said that they order everyone's books in a set all together then let us know when we need to pick them up. I was hoping to get some of them online for cheaper but it didn't sound like that was an option. I went ahead and purchased a recorder.

I'm super worried about paying for the summer. When I spoke with Financial Aid yesterday I asked about scholarships and they said they do not award any aid for the summer semester. :(

im going to get my recorder this week. I bought a watch since I never wear them and I also have been looking at stethoscopes. I plan on going by the bookstore Monday to see the exact name of the books and try to get find for a lower price. I'll check with them to see how it works. I wish I would have thought about all these questions yesterday.

MY EXACT THOUGHTS!! When she said the summer aid is limited my heart dropped. I'm already trying to find ways to work it out from now until May 2018. Everyone just keeps saying it'll be worth it until the end (even though I will be broke now)

As for work, I will be working 5 days a week 37.5 hours a week. They said that 90% of students work during the program (Lebanon and Mt. Juliet).

I went to the school yesterday and got ISBNs for all of the books. I wonder would it be okay to start buying them at other places since you said that they order them in a set.

also has anyone gotten a stethoscope yet? I'm having the hardest time choosing.

Anyone has any recommendation for stethoscopes? and will anybody be going to the Lebanon campus?

@Journey2Nursing1 I talked to a friend of mine that is starting her 4th semester at the Lebanon campus. She encouraged me to buy the foundations book but said it was fine to rent the health assessment book. She also said that a lot of the people in her class shopped around for cheaper textbooks but that I needed to make sure I got the access codes for the books that come with one.

As for stethoscopes, I am borrowing one from a friend that is a NP. She does peds now but said she has two adult stethoscopes. I'm not sure what model Littmann it is though.
