CU UCAN 2018

Nursing Students School Programs

Published

Started this thread for the 2018 CU-UCAN program. Has anyone submitted their application yet?

I will see you guys there! My time is also 7:30-2pm. I am soooo excited / nervous!!

I am sorry Liz :(

Anyone knows what kind of questions they ask during interview? I looked through some past posts but did not see anything.

Hi everyone!

I will also be interviewing with the 7:30 a.m. Group.

My background: 6 years of experience in settings that include pharmacy, long-term care, ER/trauma, ICU, and most recently, cardiology ❤️. It has been such a journey for me to get to this point, as I'm sure is the case with many of you all.

If you search for CU UCAN 2017 or CU UCAN 2016, you will find past years' threads that have lots of good info about interview day and what they ask/format (in previous years it has been a "group" format, from what I have read).

It also looks as though the group planned to meet up for coffee before the start of the day. I think that's a great way to calm nerves beforehand and get to know everyone.

Would anyone be interested in meeting up early that morning to get the cerebral blood flowing and to break the ice? I so look forward to meeting everyone! Congratulations on your interviews; it is such a huge deal to have gotten this far in the process!

Hi Kathleen,

I did read that previous groups messages before the interview. I would love to meet! I live in Loveland so dkknt know the area very well. Any suggestions? I looked through posting from 2017 and 2016 and found only a couple that talked about the interview. It gave me a general idea :) I actually posted on one of them to see if any of them were willing to share what their jnnterview was like. No one responded yet :)

Looks like you've got a lot of great experiences in the field! Thank you for sharing. Looking forward to getting to know you better.

Kate

I think that's a great idea! Are the interviews going to be at the anchutz campus? (where the school is) I work at the children's Hospital right next door, There isn't a ton around there (especially that early) but there is a Panera bread across the street. (The children's hospital actually has really awesome breakfast food too and the cafeteria and I'm prettttty sure is open to the public) or somewhere else too. Really I'll meet wherever! (Nerves have already started clearly haha)

Katie

(Also Kate, Kathleen, katie. Watch us be in the same interview group so we confuse everyone haha)

Kate, Katie -

I love it! Funnily enough, my college girlfriends were Kate and Katelyn. The name mixup struggle is so real.

I just moved to Denver From Austin, TX last month. I currently live in Broomfield and Work in downtown Denver, so I would be open to meeting downtown (actually would love to see the children's hospital), or any of the surrounding areas.

My current schedule is M-F 7:30 a.m. - 5/5:30 p.m. Depending on paperwork and patient load that day, so let me know what works for you both. I'm happy to be flexible after work and on weekends to meet up, and I'm all about getting up early for breakfast/coffee. We could also start a Facebook chat group and add people as they post in this thread.

I do believe the interviews are held on the medical campus (per the email). Regarding interview questions, at one point i found a thread that was several years old (2014, I believe) and these were some of the questions the candidates said they were asked (keep in mind the interview format may have changed since then):

1. Tell us something unique about yourself

2. Why do you want to be a nurse?

3. How will you handle stress/ a heavy courseload?

4. What does integrative/collaborative learning mean to you?

5. Why are you considering this program?

6. Do you have any questions for us?

Seems like really good opportunities to expand on things we only got to touch on in our essays.

Hey all!

I also have the morning group interview. Would love to meet up! I live in downtown Denver, work in Lowry. I went to Arizona State for Nutrition and Dietetics and have been working as a dietary tech at an eating disorder hospital for the last 3 years! Can't wait to meet everyone!

Oh, wow. That sounds like it is very interesting and important work. I am really excited to hear more about everyone's backgrounds.

I went ahead and created a Facebook group called "CU UCAN 2018" where we can pick up on discussions and make plans to meet up.

Anyone can search for the group and request to join. Hope to chat more with you all soon!

Kathleen

Oh I was thinking you meant meet somewhere right before the interview. If we are meeting another day (which makes a lot more sense haha) then we should try to grab beers or something in downtown area? I live nearish Glendale, I work night shift 8pm-6:30 Wednesday-Saturday am but could meet up for breakfast or before work in the evening!

I would be open to meeting before interview day as well. The day of might be a tight squeeze for some, based on location.

I made the Facebook group "CU UCAN 2018" to give us more of a private forum to make plans in case anyone wasn't comfortable posting personal info/phone numbers/addresses on the AllNurses public forum.

You can search for the group and one of us will add you right away :)

Hi Kathleen

Thank you for creating the FB group. I just tried searching for it and no results came up. Can you add me to the group? My full name is Kate Feeback

Thanks.

I think I just found you! Let me know if you didn't get the invite
