CU UCAN Spring 2017

Hello! I applied for the 2017 UCAN program and am waiting to hear back about an interview. I'm hoping to meet others that have applied for this program.

Hi! I have been waiting for someone to start a thread, if not I was going to soon. I also have applied and am waiting to hear back! Good luck to you!

Hi all, I have also applied and am waiting to hear. Thanks for starting this.

Hi! I also applied for the spring 2017 and am still waiting to hear! I was looking at the Spring 2016 thread and some people commented they found out around July 4th so I'm hoping to hear back soon! Good luck to everyone!!

Hi everyone!

I was hoping someone would start a thread as well - so thank you!

I also have not heard back yet, but will update when I do! Has anyone heard of the interviews are still in the group project style? Or back to just questions?

Nina :)

Yeah of course. I kept checking to see if there was a thread and figured I might as well start one! I had a friend apply last year and she had a group interview, but I'm not sure how it will be this year.

What's everyone's story? I'm a surgical tech and have worked in labor and delivery for 6 years. I recently graduated from CU Boulder with a degree in molecular biology. I'm interested in becoming a NICU nurse.

Well i'm glad you did!

Wow - you have great experience! I've worked in mental health, pediatrics, and also in labor delivery/post-partum (but as a PCT)! My degree is in Psych - and i'm hoping to get into oncology/hematology, preferably pediatrics!

Nice to meet everyone. My background is in biology and public health. I've been working for an engineering firm for a number of years doing occupational/environmental human health risk assessment. I've been living in Denver for a little over a year now.

Wow everyone has really great experience! I graduated last year and just moved to Colorado about 6 months ago! I have worked at Children's Hospital, George Washington University Hospital and a few outpatient clinics in different specialties including Neurology, Labor and Delivery, Psychology and Behavioral Health. I'm a little nervous because I feel as though I'm on the younger side of applicants (23 years old) and perhaps less experience which would put me at a disadvantage but anxiously awaiting some news! I also heard that it was a group interview, but again that was for last year, so it may be different--I'm thinking it will be the same because they have only one interview date and it would be tough to individually interview applicants in one day! Thanks again for this thread!

I feel like I'm probably on the older side (33) so nervous for the same reason! I'm sure there is a wide range within the applicant pool though.

Great experience! I graduated with my BSN in psychology after attempting to get into nursing school for a few years. I worked as a CNA for 7 years with geriatric, orthopedic, BMT, med/surg and I currently work in the admissions department at a hospital here in Denver. I have been doing that for about 2 years now. I believe the interviews are still group interviews, I think I read that somewhere on their website, which I think helps to take some pressure off! Anxiously awaiting an e-mail!

Agreed, everyone has great experience! I don't think any age is a disadvantage, as diversity is important. Anyone else obsessively checking their email?!

Yep - I agree! I don't think age matters if you have some experience and had a good essay/GPA! That's what i'm worried about! My pre-req GPA was fine, but my overall definitely wasn't much above average. I'm trying to not think about it much haha
