Hello!! I'm a stay at home mom and thinking of going back to school for nursing. I been out of school for about 10 years now. I cannot decide where to go..I was going to go to Goodwin College, but it was way too expensive for me, and then I was thinking of Capital CC, but its right in downtown hartford, and parking is such a pain! So my other choice i'm thinking of is to go to MCC to take all my preqs and then transfer out to Capital for Nursing, but then I recently discovered Linchol Tech but don't really know much about it. So far from reading off of people's posts on here i'm getting mixed reviews. I noticed that you guys both attending Lincoln Tech in New Britian, and that is where I would go, so I was wondering if you guys can give me any info or advices. the questions I have are 1) What is the difference between Lincoln Tech and a regular college? 2) How do employers review Lincoln Tech vs a regular college? 3) how intense is the program? (I have 2 boys at home under the age of 3) 4) How much does it cost to attend Lincoln Tech? Thanks!

Specializes in school nursing.

I don't have any experience with Lincoln Tech, so I can't comment on that. Parking is a non-factor for Capital though, because you have access to a parking garage right across the street.

I am a stay at home dad and am a first year student. It is easier for me as both my kids are (finally) in school full time so it makes it easier to study. If you have good time management, you can do it!

Lincoln Tech is an LPN school (no college degree awared upon completion, you are eligible to sit for the NCLEX-PN) "regular college" nursing programs will award an ADN (CT Community Colleges) and BSN (4 yr colleges/university) upon successful completion you will gain your Associates (2 yr college) or Bachelors (4 yr college) and will be eligible to sit for the NCLEX-RN.

You are comparing apples and oranges when you are comparing Lincoln Tech and RN programs.

An employer looking to hire an LPN is fine with Lincoln Tech (since they are accredited), if an employer wants a college degree then a graduate of Lincoln Tech with their LPN wouldn't be applying for that position as it is most likely an RN the employer is looking for.

Do you want to go to school to become an LPN or an RN. That answer will determine which school you should be looking at. LPN would be the State LPN programs, as well as the for-profit private schools such as Lincoln Tech and Stone. RN programs are at the CT Community Colleges and many 4 year colleges/universities such as UConn, Southern, Western, Sacred Heart etc

Hello Toni0929,

I also passed my NCLEX back in August and job hunting has been good for me. I started working in July before obtaining my license and now I'm accepting a new position at another location. Many of the girls that were in school with me are having a difficult time finding work. Hope all is well with you

I am applying to the LPN program at A.I.Prince Tech for the class starting in January 2014. Im wondering if someone can tell me about their experience there? How many classes did you take at a time? Was the TEAS V hard?

Starting the program at Norwich. So excited!! Are all books mandatory? Any suggestions for supplies or how to prepare?

Hi, I am just graduating from this program. I can try to answer some questions. All the books are mandatory for class. Ask me anything ;)
