CSUSB Fall 2012 Hopefuls

Published

Hey everyone!

Well we made it mighty far and now we are done with pre reqs and on to applying!

I am applying to the 2012 cohort and would like to invite everyone else that is applying to post here for any questions, concerns or comments!

Well I am about to put in my application. So far I have all pre reqs done, pending algebra this winter intersession. My Teas test is done, my letters of rec are on their way and basically all I am waiting for is final transcripts!

Good luck to everyone who applied

Let the wait begin!

I know right!!! I was like come on can mid July come any quicker but I was thinking that (and still do) waaaaay before July 2nd even came around. I am hoping that if people are serious about getting into a program, they wouldn't wait to the last minute to turn in such important documents!

Anyway, I really wish I knew if they started evaluating....anyone. I just wish they would let out like a tentative standing list, like CSUB does. That would be really cool, at least you know where you stand. Plus, I have no idea how competitive this term is. One minute I think, ya I am so in, and the next I am like ya right hahahaha.

Plus my big thing right now is with RCC. I need stuff done by August, and that includes like the physical and stuff. Which needs to be signed off by a doc. Which means I have to make an appt with my doc and go through all that crap. I wish they would just know that I work in a hospital and 'duh' I am up to date on everything (and obviously capable of doing the work). So fustrating because I would hate to do the appt and get the stuff signed off and I get accepted to CSUSB! Then I have to do it all over again. But if I wait til the last minute, I may not get an appt with my doc soon enough... Ugh.

I am thinking that I might not attend RCC at all and if I do not get in to CSUSB fall then winter will be it (I hope it doesn't have to resort to that!) So are you still going up to Canada eh? [lol]

OH and as for the deposit. Yes I meant for transfers. Do you attend CSUSB or are you a transfer?

Happy Independence Day!

I need stuff done by August, and that includes like the physical and stuff.[lol]

Wouldn't you be able to use that same stuff for CSUSB? I mean a physical is a physical, right?

Yes I attend CSUSB. So..I take it this means I need to make a mad dash and get some health insurance ASAP. Right, some days I feel confident, others I feel like there's so many others that have done better than me. I wish that they could give us an estimate or even a rough draft of the list just so I know if I need to worry or not. I would say to be on the safe side and just do the RCC stuff. It's better to do it all twice then not make it in time if worst comes to worst you know. Even though you are already accepted somewhere Lucky! No I am not going to Canada, I think that it would cause me to miss the letter and I just don't have the sanity to wait even longer until I get back. Also, I want to be local if the orientation is early or I need to take care of that health insurance issue.

Btw, I honestly feel that it helps just talking to others in my position that understands how important this is. So thank you for listening & answering questions DarkBlue!

I honestly feel that it helps just talking to others in my position that understands how important this is.

That's pretty much why I joined and started posting on here. My girlfriend and I both applied to the program and are in the same position of waiting. I'm the reassuring one for her so I kinda needed a place to vent my worries and concerns too. We're honestly both getting more and more anxious as the days go on! Shouldn't be too much longer though!

Wouldn't you be able to use that same stuff for CSUSB? I mean a physical is a physical, right?

Oh of course. But if I have to have my doc fill out forms and sign them. At least RCC has a form. I wish I could use the same forms for both schools. My thoughts are, even if my doc could sign off on CSUSB then I would have to make another appt to see her and to see her once is just a feat of itself!

@alvat: You have attended CSUSB since last year right? How is the campus and stuff? It looks pretty from what I have seen. And the program requires health insurance? Hmm that makes sense. RCC said it was required but I guess its required for every program.

And I wish too, that we could have like a tentative ranking or something. I am hoping that they are almost done in putting grades and evaluating people.

As for RCC, I am very conflicted as to whether I am going to attend their program or not. Even if I do not get into CSUSB fall, I want to try again in winter. I hope my stats would be good enough for fall, but I think definitely good enough for winter. I honestly think we all have really good shots on here. We are all competitive and I have a feeling all of us will get in!

Aw your not going to Canada? I can understand though. What is the point in going somewhere when you wont fully enjoy it? That is my thought. And probably why I haven't gone anywhere yet. Plus, I don't blame you, you don't want to miss the letter and they probably need you to confirm your spot ASAP.

I agree with you. This site helps me get out my feelings too. No one understands. Just to get here was hard work and to wait just makes it worse. The only thing in the end thats worth it is that acceptance letter. Problem is, we are not guaranteed to get it. :/

Your welcome, and anymore questions and feel free to ask!

@Mikey: Thats good you have a really close person there that understands and is sitting in the same position. Thats probably why alvat and I are venting here on more than anyone else!

But hopefully 2 weeks and we find out. I was thinking of emailing asking if they have a tentative date for the list to shoot up but decided to give them another week. I do not want to be a bug.

Who knows, maybe they will be done early?!

Yes I have been at CSUSB for a year now and I absolutely love it! It is very pretty, very clean, has won awards for being pretty and is one of the safest campuses in CA and thats odd considering its in San Bernardino! I love all the professors I had and all the services and staff. Love it.

I'm not sure if health insurance is required but theres a physical, some immunizations and other things that are required and could be costly for someone like me with no insurance. Either way, I'm probably going to have to get some this month to be on the safe side.

I understand about your RCC acceptance. I dont know if I would accept or not either. For me I feel like the clock is ticking and I need to get out of mommy's house so whoever accepts me first I'm accepting. If I dont have luck this fall, in Winter I'm applying at several different places.I have heard that CSUSBs program is very good though!

Well since you asked.. I do have another question. So I was looking at the nursing roadmap chart. I was wondering if you or anyone knows that we have to follow this exactly or not? I plotted a possible schedule with those classes and two of them that we are supposed to take the first quarter are at the exact same time! I figured that they knew what they were doing and I'm sure they will clarify...but I'm just curious.

@alvat: I heard the area sucks around CSUSB, but the campus is really pretty! So far from what I have seen attending SOAR and stuff. The mountains behind make it really pretty, and I bet it looks even better after theres fresh snow on them. I heard that the school closes down for wind sometimes. Is that true? I didn't know it gets that windy out there. I hate the wind. My hair sucks and my sucky hair plus wind equals sucky messed up hair. Lol.

Now that I think about it, I am thinking health insurance is required by every program. For the fact that if need to use it in case something happens. Also the documentation required to start like immunizations as well. Try to get insurance asap. Look into the schools health clinic. Maybe they sell some for cheap. Or if you live with your parents, 26 is the age when you can still stay on their insurance.

As for RCC, I am torn between getting my RN the quickest versus straight BSN. I want my BSN, no doubt about it. CSUSB is perfect because they don't look at overall GPA (mine is low) and they take the better grade from repeated classes. Their program is very forgiving compared to others. Plus, when I went to their advising session, I felt like I can see myself there. Attending their program. Weird feeling. On the other hand I want my RN and I too would like to not be stuck living with a family member or parents. It all depends on their decision as to whether I will take RCCs offer. If I barely made the cut off then I will stay and apply for winter. If my stats are so horrible I will never have a second chance then i will take up RCC. That is the way I see it. I am hoping my stats, or all our stats are way good enough to get in.

I too, have glanced at that roadmap. I was thinking that is the classes we need to take in that specific order. As for the GE classes with them, I think those are exchangeable. Like since psych is the one listed we do the first quarter, and I have done psych, I plan on taking the stats class instead. But I think it all depends on when the nursing courses are.

Gosh I want to find out so bad! I was on the CSUSB website and I think campus was closed all week. If so, do you think the nursing dept was closed too? I bet they were!

Which means they should have a pile of transcripts to evaluate next Monday. So I guess 2 weeks it is! I will call next Friday to see if they know a date for that list. Hopefully they will know so we can check it out!

Yes, there has been a couple closures due to high winds. It's also annoying that on windy days alot of the doors are shut so we have to use side doors and everyone walks around the building all lost until we find an open door. Yes it also looks pretty after it snows on the mountains! Being so close to the mountains I have seen snakes, lizards, tarantulas, racoons all on campus! Not too often though...

Yes, im shopping for insurance already. So pricey!

Right, but that roadmap had two nursing classes offered at the same time! As I mentioned earlier though, I'm sure they will fix it or have reason for doing so. They should have us all taken care of. Noooo, campus was closed? That means delays. I can't wait any longer.
