CSUSB Fall 2012 Hopefuls

U.S.A. California

Hey everyone!

Well we made it mighty far and now we are done with pre reqs and on to applying!

I am applying to the 2012 cohort and would like to invite everyone else that is applying to post here for any questions, concerns or comments!

Well I am about to put in my application. So far I have all pre reqs done, pending algebra this winter intersession. My Teas test is done, my letters of rec are on their way and basically all I am waiting for is final transcripts!

Good luck to everyone who applied

Let the wait begin!

ahhh you didn't hear? Even the advisors I spoke with said that there is an actual range of points for each given category. Your system you developed was close but not accurate. But awesome try though! I just wish I would have stayed and ask her about it. Well I will try looking for it and post it when I find it.

Yeah. Talking with one of the other applicants during the session, I realized my formula was likely flawed. I calculated points for the GPA using the range of 0 - 4.0 and the TEAS range of 0% - 100%. Since the cut off is higher than that I'll probably readjust my formulas to have the cutoff count as 0 points and see what that does. Like I said before, I don't know what scale they use but i figured I'd take a shot at it. ;)

That is exactly what I did as well (after you told me how to do it). What do you mean the cut off is higher? Are you saying like the 3.61 and 82%? Like using those cut offs as zero? I am confuzzled lol

You did well for trying to figure it out. A hint though, one of the advisors said a male got in last winter with 34/54 of the points. She said that males will get the upper hand (lucky you) in case of a tie. I do not know if that helps.

I just know that the advisors said my stats were in the 'do not worry realm' which if I was told that then you should be a shoe in then! Since we are both higher that the averages of the last two cohorts, I hope that is good news. I just got the county points as well since I moved so I hope that locked it in for me. We will not know until July though, but its coming faster and faster. I just wanna be in already :)

For those registering this week, good luck and try to get as many of those capstone classes out of the way!

When I made my original formulas, I used the full range of 0% - 100% for the TEAS and 0 - 4 for the GPA. If I readjusted the scale to be 0 points for a minimum score or 70% on the TEAS, which is the cutoff to be considered, and 0 points for 2.5 GPA, which WAS the minimum to be considered, I could go from there to calculate overall points.

Oh I see. Well if you have a some time on your hands then go for it! I honestly think that our scores are competitive enough. Well at least your are lol. Now its just 2 month wait ahhhhhhhh

I agree, looking at the grades and TEAS results, we should have a pretty good shot. Like you said, I'd love to know NOW but alas, we must wait.

Hahaha only if we knew now! Oh well. I mean if it was wait and get accepted or hear now and get rejected, I pick the former.

Man, only 2 months at the latest. Doing anything this summer?

I probably won't be able to do anything until I find out whether I get in or not lol. July/August seems like a lifetime away right now :( So I was looking at the nursing classes while I was registering and there are 60 seats available for the nursing 200 class, so I'm guessing there are 60 spots open for the nursing program for this fall?

I'm not really sure how many seats they are going to be this semester but during the SOAR on May 19th, they said they were trying for 40 - 45 spots for the program.

Doing anything this summer?

As far as my summer plans, not really doing all that much. Saving up with my girlfriend so that we have as large of a nest egg as possible when the semester starts. We're moving to an apartment just off campus a few weeks before school starts so we have to buy all the things to set up a new place.....fun. We may make a couple Vegas runs and maybe a trip to the lake/river with the boat but we'll see how the finances are.

What about you?

Oh nice plans! I wish I was doing something exciting. When I lost my job a while ago, I was off work for almost a year. I spent savings and maxed my credit cards to pay for everything. Ugh so I am stuck picking up hours and working more to pay it off before schools starts. I doubt it will be paid off but who knows. We probably may go down to SD for awhile. My best friend is getting married and she lives up near San Luis Obispo. I am going to be coming and going up there to help her (I am the maid of honor) of course she picks this November to get hitched.

Sounds like we got some busy summers. All I [we] need is those acceptance letter(s) and I think our vacays will be more....uh...relaxed lol. Definitely.

Anywho. If you hear anything do not be afraid to post up, and I will do likewise. Did you ever calculate the new points system?

Oh and I registered yesterday, did you as well? Did you get your classes? I am hoping we get accepted and are able to dump them asap.

So I was looking at the nursing classes while I was registering and there are 60 seats available for the nursing 200 class...

I just looked and I saw 44 open seats, which is consistant with what they told us during the SOAR.

Did you ever calculate the new points system?

No. I decided that the calculator that I made was good enough to get rough idea of where we stood and I'll leave it at that.

I acutally registered last week, you know being a veteran and all, I get priority registration. But yes, I did get all the classes that I "registered for." And I'm with you, the sooner we can dump these, the better. I'ver pretty much got my ed plan figured out for the next 3 years, just gotta wait for the approval of the nursing program. ;)

Yea I looked again, the other 16 seats I saw were for the palm desert campus lol. I just hate the wait
