CSUSB Fall 2013 Applicants

Published

Hi all! I'm a bit surprised I couldn't find a thread already started on this, so I finally decided to join AllNurses and start it myself :)

As many may have discovered by now, the prerequisites for CSU San Bernardino's nursing program have changed:

1. BIOL 220 (Microbiology)

2. BIOL 223 (Anatomy & Physiology I)

3. BIOL 224 (Anatomy & Physiology II)

4. CHEM 205 (Fundamentals of Chemistry: General Chemistry)

5. COMM 120 or Hon 104C 9Oral Communication)

6. CRITICAL THINKING

7. ENG 107, 104a, 104b, or 106 (Freshman Composition)

8. MATH 115 (Ideas of Math)

As such, I felt as if I couldn't look to previous average acceptance scores and GPAs to measure the probability I'll be accepted.

This thread is for anyone who has applied for Fall 2013 (let's share the anxiety of waiting for letters, lol), anyone who has questions about applying to CSUSB's BSN program in general, or anyone who has been accepted and would be so kind as to offer advice (please?).

Thanks in advance, and good luck to all!

Thanks nj892!! You're encouragement helped ease my mind - Thanks for being so positive!

I'm not sure how many of you are still reading this thread, but I created a Facebook page for our cohort. I wasn't able to find it in a google search, but if you look for "CSUSB Nursing Class of 2016" while in FB it comes up. The photo is a stethoscope making a heart shape. It is set up as a public page, but if you all think it would be better to switch it over to a private group we can do that too. Looking forward to meeting you all on Tuesday!

Congrats, Hopeful4it!

I went over the points with the nursing office a few hours ago. I miscalculated my GPA entirely; I hadn't understood how the hierarchy of classes. I had all A's except for B's in 220, 223, and 224, which are the three classes that count the most. So my GPA went 3 points down and brought me to 40. At the time I called, ---------------- told me there were still 12 ahead of me because they had 40 points as well but their GPAs were higher.

What was depressing was that even one letter of rec would have got me in. Lesson learned, and I will definitely be applying to Winter. In the meantime, I'm going to continue with COPE and see if I can get my LVN or maybe even just my CNA cert to work while I wait.

Good luck to anyone still waiting for a call!

Does anyone happen to know when we will be buying our student scrubs? At orientation? I know of the stethoscope, clipboards, and sweatshirts, but does anyone have any more information on orientation or anything?

:) Glad I could help, Hopeful4it!

I just liked the facebook page!

@ Jasmic, The good news is that I have been told several times that Winter is easier to get into. That was also my plan if I didn't get in for Fall. Best of luck to you this quarter and next!!

@hopeful4it, on the facebook page your created, why cant we post on it, or do anything on it lol

Ok, I fixed that

Apparently I'm not a super creater of FB pages -- I don't see how to make it available to add friends, just "likes" which really isn't what I intended.

I'm applying for fall 2014. Just turned in my application. I should have 42/54 points total. For those of you who have been accepted or know people who've been accepted where do you think I stand?

Hi Ruben, where did you find the information on how to calculate your points for CSUSB? Please let me know. Thanks!

Hey @Missa912 the nursing department sent it to me a long time ago. I can email it to you if you'd like?

Yes that would be awesome! Thank you so much! I truly appreciate it. :)

My email is [email protected]. I also applied to their program but this entire time I have been clueless on how their point system works.
