CSUSB Fall 2013 Applicants

Published

Hi all! I'm a bit surprised I couldn't find a thread already started on this, so I finally decided to join AllNurses and start it myself :)

As many may have discovered by now, the prerequisites for CSU San Bernardino's nursing program have changed:

1. BIOL 220 (Microbiology)

2. BIOL 223 (Anatomy & Physiology I)

3. BIOL 224 (Anatomy & Physiology II)

4. CHEM 205 (Fundamentals of Chemistry: General Chemistry)

5. COMM 120 or Hon 104C 9Oral Communication)

6. CRITICAL THINKING

7. ENG 107, 104a, 104b, or 106 (Freshman Composition)

8. MATH 115 (Ideas of Math)

As such, I felt as if I couldn't look to previous average acceptance scores and GPAs to measure the probability I'll be accepted.

This thread is for anyone who has applied for Fall 2013 (let's share the anxiety of waiting for letters, lol), anyone who has questions about applying to CSUSB's BSN program in general, or anyone who has been accepted and would be so kind as to offer advice (please?).

Thanks in advance, and good luck to all!

@ Hopeful4it, No problem! :) They ask you to fill out & sign the bottom portion of the acceptance letter, bring that and your social security & drivers license (original and copies) into the Nursing Department office. If you don't do this by July 30th, they consider that a decline.

Sounds like I likely will not get a call until after the 30th (if at all)!!

Just try to stay positive, and make sure to stay open for contact in case a spot opens up! Nothing is set in stone yet! Best of luck to you and everyone else who is an alternate!

I got accepted at csula and csusb. Can anyone shed light on which has a better program?

Jollyrogers: I haven't talked to any graduates from csula, but anyone (professors, students, etc.) I've talked with have said that it doesn't matter so much which program you attend. A degree from one place over the other doesn't seem to matter much. I'd look into where their clinicals are and use that to make your decision. Congrats by the way. What an exciting decision to make.

Life as an alternate is stressful. Still no phone call from the school, so it's starting to look like I wont find out until next week when the deadline passes and the spots open up from people not responding. I feel pretty good about my chances of getting in as an alternate, but would be a lot more calm if I had an answer for sure. Incase you're curious I had 40 pts: a 3.6 pre-req gpa and a 88.7% on the Teas. I was told that they call alternates based on their points, then pre-req gpa - in that order.

I noticed that no-one has set up a facebook page yet. When I get my phone call and if one still hasn't been set up I'll be happy to do so.

I got in!!! See you all Tuesday!! I'm excited to meet you all.

Congrats!!! What time did they call you? Gimme all the details

They called at about 3:30 this afternoon and asked me if I was still interested in attending the program. Then they asked if I could come in today and do the paperwork (sign the letter and fill out an emergency contact card). When I got there I had to have a copy of my DL and SS Card. That was about it.

I didn't get a call, I wonder if all the spots are filled now. I had 39 points.

Congratulations Hopeful4it!

@Jesses*girl: Have you tried calling the office or going down there? They may be able to give you some information. Yesterday was the deadline for people to respond, I would imagine that today would be a more likely day to get a call. Also, the points I calculated for myself was 39, but when I inquired they told me they had me calculated at 40pts. Maybe ask them what they have calculated for you... I wish you luck. I know how stressful it is to not know!
