Hello!
I was wondering if anyone is/has applied to CSUS for Fall '11. If so, what are your points looking like? How did you do on the TEAS exam (pretty tough huh?) I want to compare info!!!
@whynot1 - in my letter they actually said that they didn't know what the cutoff would be for Fall. They have actually only offered 75 slots so far. People have until 5/9 to come back with any point mistakes they feel were made and so the 5 spots are for if there were errors. If none were made, alternates 1-5 get offered a spot in a few weeks. I think once all of that is done they will announce the cutoff. I'm sure it will be posted.
@JeffC - what is the other school that you are looking at?
Oaktown: I live in Ventura County, but fell in love with Sac State when I toured the campus and city. The other school I applied to was CSUCI, which is located in Ventura County. I have to weigh the pros and cons of going to each school. CSUCI is a 3 year program; many of the courses I have already had (pharm, patho, nutrition, etc) I might have to retake at CSUCI since that particular program won't allow you to transfer in with them vs. Sac State which is a short and sweet 2 years. Also, since CSUCI is the new kid on the block as far as local nursing programs go, they had to fight for clinical spots with the ADN programs... which meant stretching it out and could mean a drive upwards of an hour. Staying local is cheaper for rent, but do I really want to spend an extra year where the economic climate might mean tuition/fees going up God knows how much and potential $5 a gallon gas? Arghhhh!!!!
@JeffC - oh, I don't envy you on that one. That's lame that CSUCI won't allow the courses to transfer. The advantage though of 3 years, is more time for the economy to improve, but you are right, that could also (and probably will) mean fee increases. Do you know where the clinical sites are for Sac State? I sort of took it for granted that we would just need to drive a bit for clinicials at any school, but since Sac State is so well established, maybe it really isn't bad. Good luck with it! (And I always figure that whatever decision is made is usually the right one.)
Oaktown: Not sure where the clinical locations are located for Sac State, actually. THAT is something to consider! I totally agree with you about the course issue at CSUCI. If I do choose to go there, then it would mean an easy repeat since I have already had them once before. But why pay thousands of dollars to retake them? Ewwww. I think I am going to try and schedule a meeting before the 9th with one of the people at CSUCI's program and have a nice, long chat with them and ask why I should go THERE instead of Sac.
Congrats to everyone who got in! Im so excited to meet you all! :) Does anyone know how the orientation works for transfers? As far as my understanding goes I think we have to go to two different orientations? Is that correct? I know about the orientation on wednesday before school starts but I'm confused about the other orientation. When I log onto My Sac State account it gives me two different dates that I can choose (August 10th and July something). However, on the orientation website which was linked in my acceptance email, it says that nursing students have to contact the orientation center to choose either June 17th or 20th.

I had the same problem trying to figure out which orientation to attend so I called the orientation office. If you log into MySacSate account, click on the studnet center tab. Under the admissions section there is New Student Orientation link; click on that! From there you can pick the orientation date that best works for you based on your major. I am doing the July 28th date if anyone wants to join me! I would love to meet some people in the program before it starts!
They won't post the cut off until all of the letters of intent to enroll are submitted. (So for those that got in, don't forget, May 9th). The last 2 semesters the cut off was 56 and 54. I am so excited to meet everyone and i can't wait to get started! Good luck to everyone who is still on the alternate list!

Got in! WooHoo! Now I just have to decide if I want to go there, or the other program I was accepted into. Hmmm!
