CSUN ABSN 2015

U.S.A. California

I noticed that there wasn't a thread posted for CSUN ABSN 2015 yet so I thought I'd start one I'm currently a student at CSUN finishing my BA in psychology (I will be graduating this December). I can hardly wait to start nursing school! I wanted to start this thread so us CSUN applicants can get to know each other.

I think I've been accepted?! I received a letter from CSUN yesterday that said 'congratulations we would like to offer you admissions'. Did anyone else get one yet? I've noticed some people have been talking about an interview, so I'm a little confused! I really hope I'm in, the wait has been excruciating!

Did you also receive an email? Because I've received emails that say admissions decisions are going to be emailed to us. I received a letter from CSUN but it was to offer admission to the university, not the actual nursing program. Does the letter you received say "admission to the university does not guarantee admission to the nursing program"? They will not be doing interviews this year. I double checked with an admissions person. That would be great if your letter was for admission to the nursing program. Is it addressed from the nursing department?

It's from the admissions department, not the school of nursing. OMG that's bad isn't it??? Haha well looks like I got my hopes up a little early. So we still have to wait for another admission decision from the nursing department?!! That seems so weird!!

That's not bad at all. It just means you haven't received an admissions decision from the actual nursing department. Yea the nursing department sends a separate admission decision from the university itself. The admissions person from the nursing department told me we would be hearing of an admission decision in late March through early April.

Oh but I don't think it says 'admission to the university does not guarantee admission to the nursing program'. You would think they would write that VERY clearly on there, but all it says is congratulations and that I will be receiving more information shortly. I am seriously going crazy over here! LOL

If it was for the nursing program I believe it would be addressed from the nursing department. And you would have received an email regarding your nursing program admission decision. That's what the admissions person told me in an email. That they are sending decisions via email. But you could check with the nursing department just to make sure.

Did anyone else get a letter from admissions? I feel so alone!! :crying2:

I received one from the office of admissions in November saying I was accepted to csun. It's a provisional acceptance (you have to be directly accepted by the department). I haven't heard anything from the nursing department since January (via email).

Same here. That's the same letter I received a month ago.

I didn't get anything. Don't know if it's because I was previously accepted to masters program in music 2 yrs ago

Oh that does make sense. The letter doesn't say anything about it being provisional, so I thought that meant I was in! Darn well only a few more weeks to wait...

For us (Cohort 15), we received a letter from the school early on about being admitted into the school. This is the provisional admittance. After awhile we then received an email from the nursing department notifying us of our admittance into the program and asking us if we would like to change our preference fall or summer.

The nursing department has difficulty emailing non university associated emails, so I suggest getting one ASAP and checking it regularly.

Once admitted you'll have a ton of titers, immunizations, check ups, insurance both car and nursing related, drivers license, CPR, etc that you will have to submit to a third party business, so get any recent paperwork you have ready for this as it seemed difficulty for many of our cohort to figure out. The nursing program will cover this, but then your on your own to figure out how to do it. I'm sure either me or Lore will be happy to help if you have any questions.

Good of luck to all you and I hope to meet you all at orientation.

Thank you so much for all the information 😊 it is definitely helpful to know what to expect. I have a friend of mine who is in the program right now and she loves it! Hoping to see you at orientation and hoping I get in lol 😊
