Wanted to start a thread for everyone applying for the Spring 2019 cohort of the ABSN program at CSUN!
I'm just trying to figure out how they are going to pick since there's no interview and no TEAS. It's like solely based on our GPA and letters of rec...which has me super concerned since I didn't even get to see half of that.
I was thinking the same thing. It's not much to go off of so I'm assuming they'll make decisions sooner than later

I have a feeling they don't look at TEAS because we all have a BA or BS already- so our "test of academic skills" has already been proven in a way you know?
I feel like GPA will probably be heavily waited but idk if you guys noticed the discrepancy with that? On the TSENG website it says 3.0 but on the CSUN website it says 2.5... lol I'll attach the links for you if you wanna see, I didn't really bother to call about it though. I'm just ready to get an email, I, too, check my email excessively haha, sometimes I try to login the portal to see if it says something there too
TSENG:
Accelerated Bachelor of Science in Nursing - Admission Requirements | Cal State Northridge - CSUN
CSUN:
Accelerated BSN Admission Requirements | California State University, Northridge

All schools say lower GPAs like that. I know someone with a 3.8 overall and 4.0 in science who was waitlisted at CSULA's ABSN. It's so competitive I can't see a 3.0 being in unless they didn't get a ton of applicants...but if that were the case we would have probably already heard.
I called today and they told me that we should be hearing back in early November due to a slight delay. They said to give it about two weeks into November and if we do not hear back then we can call. She said roughly 250+ applicants and they are accepting 30 students and will not have an active wait list.

What's with the descrepancies with the dates?!? And it's a horrible idea to not have a waitlist! There are bound to be people who end up going elsewhere!

Dang okay, I mean early November isn't too far away so not much longer for us. I'm surprised how low the number of applicants are though, thought it would be way more. Not having a wait list definitely sucks but hopefully everything will work out.

I feel like the number is low because the program was on hiatus for awhile and then was only announced 1 month before the material due date. I feel like it wasn't on people's radars and with the hefty packet, people may not have been able to get everything done in time once they discovered the program was back up and running.
When I called they made it sound like the 250+ applicants was a lot, definitely a lot more than expected and that is why there is a "delay". When they said no waitlist and I asked what will happen if people turn down their admission and they said then they will admit the next on the list so it seems like the admissions will be rolling until everyone accepts the open spots? Not sure how that will work but just relaying the message.
