I'm sure there's lots of you out there applying to the CSUN 2011 ABSN program. Just wanted to get the conversation rolling for those of us who are in the process. Anyone else think 2 pages is too short for the personal statement?

Thank you for letting us know, mrmandap! I haven't received mine yet, so I just may give the assistant a little ol' call in the AM.

didn't get mine either. thanks for the heads up!

Go look in your CSUN email account. Mine is there!

if you want to have your email automatically forwarded from your school email account to your civilian one, go to settings at the top of the inbox page in your school account and open the forwarding and pop/imap tab. click on add new email address. enter the email address where you want your messages forwarded. a verification email will be sent to the new email address. open it, see the confirmation message from the email provider, and click on the link. then back in your school account, go back into the forwarding and pop/imap tab and select the "forward a copy of incoming mail to ...' option and select your forwarding address from the menu. then select the action you want your messages to take from the menu, and click save changes.

hey all-

has anyone gotten any offers of financial aid from csun? i just checked mine and it states that i have "no fin aid awards for viewing in this aid year." i'm wondering if it's because they haven't processed mine yet (i submitted my fin aid verification sheet only about a week ago), or is it because they simply didn't award me anything? i'm a bit worried because if it's the latter, then i'd have to start looking into taking out loans from my bank pronto.

I haven't received any awards either. It takes about twelve weeks before the loans are completed and money will be given. I know that we are both uneligible for the Pell Grant (which I was looking forward to receiving) because we already have a bachelor's degree. Have they given you an estimated total of what you will need as well as the estimated family contribution? I'm assuming the estimated family contribution is what we are expected to pay.

Is anyone familiar with the Fire and Safety Training that is required? Do we have to go to their designated fire/safety training course or does anyone know of other places to complete this requirement? Thanks! :)

Good news about financial aid and a word of caution. Another student informed me that there is financial aid available for summer, and when I called financial aid and had my 5th or 6th conversation with them I suddenly received the same info. That said, just be very aware that not everyone in financial aid is on the same page so be sure to keep making phone calls and personal visits to their office because you will get multiple wrong answers. The way summer aid works is they you will not receive any federal money for summer semester, however if you would like to take out additional money from your private loan, they will approve the additional loan money. But, the caveat is they say you have to register summer session first, and then they'll approve your request for additional loan funds at which point you'll be reimbursed. Myself and other students have run into this problem on multiple occasions where the financial aid department offers misinformation. So again be sure to keep asking different people because apparently there is at least one person in that department that seems to know what they're talking about. I still say proceed with caution because I do find it odd that with the various FA department workers that I've spoken with, only one has given me this information.

Hey guys. Quick question---were y'all under the impression that we could take epidemiology this summer BEFORE we start the rest of our classes, so that we could get it out of the way? (I realize this would only apply to the fall cohort students). I thought that's what I heard at the meeting back in the fall for applying students but when I talked to them today, they seemed to know nothing about this and said that the epid is only taken the last semester. I'd LOVE to get it out of the way, though. Am I remembering incorrectly?

I remember very vividly during the information session it being said about epidemiology that we would be well advised to take it ahead of time if possible; in fact, I planned to take it before I was placed into the summer cohort. Have you tried to enroll in the course? What if a student has taken the class previously as part of the requirement for a bachelor's degree in health administration or something similar ... it seems logical that the class would certainly count toward fulfillment of the nursing program requirement of the same epidemiology class normally taken in the fourth semester.

Thanks, doggymama23. Good to know I didn't just dream that. I was going to register for it but then waited when I heard we needed an id #. Going to try to register for it online today and see what happens.

uh-oh .... I think we have been consumed by the busy-work monster .... run here ... run there ... do this ... do that :uhoh3: holy moley!
