CSULB Spring 2022

Published

Hello everyone!

I couldn't find a forum for this year's pre-nursing students that are applying to CSULB so I made one myself! Anyway, I know I'm not the only one who wants to compare scores or see if their scores are competitive, so here it is...

I'll start it off...

GPA (SCIENCE) : 3.7 = 3.7 pts

GPA (GE) : 4.0 = 2 pts

TEAS OVERALL : 87% = 1.74

TEAS READING : 86% = 1.72

TOTAL POINTS = 9.16 pts

Im planning to retake the TEAS for the THIRD TIME and try to get 90%+ on both, and yes, Chemistry messed me up, ifykyk.

Sorry if my english/grammar is trash, its my lowest score on the TEAS ^_^

DO NOT BE DISCOURAGED.. DO NOT LOSE HOPE!! WE ALL GOT THIS ❤️

Thank you. Yes I have seen this attachment as well. My counselor at a CC said they prefer Chem 140 over Gen Chem but I was wondering if that affects your chances of getting in. Did you get accepted?

Im applying this semester. It says on their website either equivalent to chem 140 or chem course that’s inorganic, organic, or bio chem and chem 65 falls under the second category. Plus I’ve already spoken with the counselors for nursing and they’ve said the course is okay. But a that just what I’ve been told, I’m not sure for yours. I just couldn’t take chem 140 cause I was undeclared during that time

I how they still do cause that’s all that was available to me at the time. All my other requirements are in good shape, so fingers crossed ?

OK thanks! The nursing email at CSULB is not so great. She doesn’t answer questions they just re post what is already written on the website. Any advice how else I could talk to someone from the nursing program other than that email?

Yeah so Im a Csulb student so I have access to their counseling services. That’s how I got in contact, not sure how else you would be able to unfortunately. You could try joining their zoom counseling times but they ask for a Csulb student Id number

Ahh OK. I can set up a meeting with their counseling department. I have talked to them before. I just didn’t know if they knew all the answers to nursing questions or not. Thanks so much!

No problem! I hope it helps and all goes well

So just to be sure regarding the TEAS - Is it the "ATI Remote Proctor" that's accepted by the school or the "Institution Remote Proctor" so that we can specify CSULB? Or does it not matter?

The accept either institution or ATI proctoring. As long as you send the transcripts to csulb. I personally took mine institutionally remotely proctored by csulb.

Do we know what the average scores students had, that were admitted to past cohorts?

Yes here are the averages for the past. I found it in this website. https://www.csulb.edu/college-of-health-human-services/school-of-nursing/undergraduate-BSN-faq-and-application

scroll to frequently asked questions and click the last question that asks “is it difficult to be accepted...” and you’ll find this picture

Question, for the Chemistry prerequisite, they only take the first chem class taken, right?  I took general Chemistry a while back and didn't get a good grade, so I took another chem class that was both general + organic chem, so I was wondering if that would replace the gen class since it is new material.

Im not sure but when I filled out the application I know they let you put more than one course for chem, Microbiology, and anatomy + physiology
